Since the birth of my son my car has become more of a toy and isn't used for daily commuting any more so Im going to switch over to race gas. Now after doing a lot of research on here I still have a few questions and items to clear up.

First of all I can only find leaded race gas here locally, but at a good price. Now I know I'll have to switch to the special Denso o2 sensor that can handle lead and I have no cat, but can the rest of the fuel system handle the lead? FIC just emailed me back and said the injectors will be fine. Can the seals take it? They are brand new as of last winter.

Second; I did want to install a wideband o2 sensor but the lead would eat it up. Does anyone sell a wideband o2 that can take lead as well?

Third; I see Torco makes an additive to mix your own but is it as good? Its probably close but I cant see it being as good since your starting with regular 93 from a station.

Fourth; For those of you running race gas and a SAFC about how much were you able to turn your current settings down to match the new fuel? Just to give me a ballpark figure since I would need to retune any way.

Lastly I can get Jet A fuel from the airport. I believe its unleaded, has anyone had experience with this fuel. They also sell 100ll but thats still leaded.

Thanks in advance.

I would vote for the torco additive.

I second that. We used to run VP103 unleaded since it's cheaper and o2 sensor safe. The stuff rocks and it's always gotten us damn near the same times as we could manage on C16. Then we tried the Torco+pump and we were able to run the same AFRs and timing as we could on the VP103. Definitely potent stuff, not just some BS octane booster.

Cool thank you for the good review. My friend told me about a place to check out so I'll be swinging by there after work tonight. If I cant find any unleaded I'll probably go with the Torco+pump since you give it the thumbs up. Thanks.

Once question yet; anyone done the switch to race gas running an AFC? About how much could you drop the fuel? Like I said before I'll retune it but a base estimate would be nice to have.

Thanks.;)

Update: I decided to run the TORCO 110 Leaded becuase its readily available to me and isnt much more than the 93 pump I was buying. Man this stuff is potent! Makes pump gas look like piss water! This saturday Im going to retune because with the race fuel she's real rich. Looks like I'll be able to pull my fuel pressure down since I had it super high in order to supress knock and keep from overrunning my mass since I have the nt high compression engine with the evoIII16g. OMG

The Denso O2 sensor works great for the leaded too. Easy to intall, direct fit and cheap from sparkplugs.com. :rocks:

Thank you for clearing that one up. Anybody else have answeres to the other questions?

I would vote for the torco additive. As Aero said, you can't run Jet A.

I believe JET A is the kerosene but there is another fuel that my local airport carries (and its a small airport) that carries a jet fuel that is 100 octane leaded gasoline. It is about $4.50 though so I figure if I am going to run leaded I will just spend the extra dollar / gallon and run 110+

Correct Jet A is kerosene based. My local airport also selles 100l (low lead) but its more than the 110L that I buy at like 4.25 or less When premium is about 3.65-3.85 so its not bad at all.

All normally available "jet" fuel is kerosene based. The 100 octane leaded will be 100LL, which is for piston a/c instead. If you can get the race gas that cheap, I'd definitely run that over 100ll.

Yes sir thats why Im running the leaded race fuel. I may switch to the unleaded TORCO mix if I decide to install a full time wideband over the winter. We shall have to see.
