I have had this sound for awhile now. It makes like a grinding noise ONLY when your on the gas, when you let off it slowy stops making the noise, i have been told it could be tranny, driveshaft, or t-case. Here is a video of it, you will hear it, its pretty loud, just make sure your speakers are on loud.:thumb:

First thing I would check is the T-Case, Tranny, and Diff. fluid levels.

I changed all of those last yr, i think i would notice if it leaked, but i will check.

thanks

When to pruven performance they dropped the tranny fluid and there were some medal shavings. There are going to open the tranny during the week, any idea what it could be?

Why not just flush and fill the Tranny fluid? If it works it'll save you time dropping the tranny and you'll buy some time before you have to rebuild it.

it sucks to hear... :( hopefully it won't cost big $$$... post back to let us know what the problem was... I'm curious to find out...

:sosad: I've had that problem with both DSM's I've ever owned, and the one my uncle currently has is experiencing the same thing. I'm pretty sure your transfer case/or front differentials are done. I can't remember which it was. Have you tried launching the car yet? I bet it'll spin off the back wheels for a second instead of just squatting and speeding away. Also, have you tried pushing in the clutch at idle while not moving... does the noise go away and then come back as you release the clutch? All the ones I've heard make this noise do it. Only thing I can assume is that it's just wear/tear on the tranny from lots of fun, but abusive launching. But hey... :thumb: ... your DSM will be able to do RWD donuts after a few days of driving like that. Just kidding. That's my two cents though.:talon:
