I am planning on getting a chip for my 91 tsi automatic.
so what are the pro's and con's of keeping my auto ecu?
should i keep my eprom auto ecu or get a 5 speed eprom ecu?

If you are going to have the ECU socketed for a chip from Keydriver or TMO than keep the Auto Eprom ecu you already have. It will work just fine with whatever chip you install in it. Just make sure you let whom ever you order the chip from that you have a 1g auto with a stock fuel pressure of 43.5psi and not the 37psi of the manual cars..

Good luck

so a 5 speed ecu would be a step back?

No, after you start changing chips, there's no real difference in the ecu's anymore. It's all on the eprom chip.

Tim is correct. After you socket and chip an Eprom ECU it doesn't matter what car it came from, because you are in charge of the programming going into it. I am currently running a MT Eprom ECU from a 92 AWD Talon im my 91 Eclipse GSX automatic. DSMlink handles all the tuning I need and I control the Fuel Pressure with an aftermarket FPR.

Pick a reliable shop to socket your ECU and you'll have no problems in the future.
