Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever had their car almost fix itself?
I've started calling my car Christine like in the old movie about the killer car.
When I bought the car, it had a problem with the horn sounding like it an airhorn out of air.. but one day, it just started working again.

A couple of weeks back, my power antenna kept getting jammed, it would get stuck halfway and make a grinding noise, but today it went down like it's supposed to.

The car had a really bad ticking noise when the car was warm, but it just randomly went away and hasn't come back for months now... no it's not because of the oil I used.

Anyone have any weird stories to tell?

i had the blinker arm on my sterring wheel colum not work for making the left or right signal. Than one day, it just decided working after a couple days driving around.

My back up lights were not working. I just took them out and looked and didn't look like i could fix anything. I put them back in and they weren't turning on. Than about a month later one day they are working.

While both of these incidenses involve eclectrical parts that probably have a loose wire somewhere, they fixed themselves after not working, and than stayed fix for months.

Yes my car a couple of weeks ago would not start at all. Made no sound or anything, just nothing when I tried to crank it. Happened for a whole day. Every 2 times I tried to start it, it would do nothing, the other times it would start just fine. happened only one day and has never happened again. Figured my starter was going out but has worked perfect ever since.

The horn had water in it... and it eventually dried out.

Proabably an insect stuck in the mechanism. Once the little fellow finally turned to dust... working antenna again.

Temperature maybe? See if it comes back this summer when it gets hot again.

These are just things I've seen that caused exactly what you mentioned. But yeah... DSMs have gremlins :D

My motor got crankwalk one afternoon horribly. I even checked the crank endplay and it was 0.130". So things were BAD. I called the car a whore, slut and a few other key choice words. I let the car sit for a week before I went to show my buddy the crank endplay. Well it went away. 0.004" of endplay!!! No more mis shifts either. It fixed itself!

Also, I bought a FP3065 and it ran great. 2 weeks later though, I couldn't create constant boost. I took the intake pipe off and the compressor blades were all mangled. So I said the hell with this POS, called the car a few other key choice words (skank, bi***, etc) and left it alone for a few hours. When I went to show my buddy the compressor wheel an hour later, it was MINT. Gold plated too with a diamond nut. It fixed itself.

I felt bad for calling her bad words, which should only be said to my girlfriend (who is a big slut whorebag). In the end, the cars the only one to make me happy.

I interfered with the turn signal midway through a turn and it made a nasty "snap!" after which the signal would not engage. Had to hold it down to indicate a turn. A couple weeks later it healed itself and started working normally again.

I had a horrible case of phantom knock on my 7 bolt. I tried everything, read all the threads, etc. It was pretty annoying, every gear at 2500 rpm it would pull a lot of timing and the car would hesitate. Just when I was about to give up and figured my car would be forever cursed with PK, it disappeared. Never happened for a whole year, then I got DSMLink so it didn't matter anyway.

Yeah, a few things. I remember my check engine light going on and I was like crap what now, then a few days later it went away and hasn't came back on yet.

Yep,

I was basicly rally racing my old talon when I didn't see a dip well more of a slight ramp I guess you could say due to the incline on the hill I was running up. Well my car went air born. I am guessing like 2' and slammed down hard on it's what would now be 22yr old suspention bottoming out. I stopped at once and got out, and looked under the car. I was sure I ####ed something up on the drive train. A axle maybe, or drive shaft.

Well didn't spot a darn thing so I drive out fine. Get out out on the road and get in to it just a little bit, maybe 7psi of boost. and the car stutters and shakes bad. Acts like it's starving for fuel any time I get in the boost. And didn't get any better from that point on, for about 3 days. Any time I got so much as 1psi of boost it was like I hit fuel cut. So I had to limp around any time I went somewhere.

Well next day I get in and start to ease on and notice hey im at 3psi and no fuel cut, hmm try more, 7psi still good. 10psi, wow suprised. 15psi SWEET back in action.

Never had any fuel problems with that car after that. and wasn't to sad to see it go when I sold sold it for what I paid. :)

The only diamond nut you have is in your head. Was a lump of close but all that compression up there...

the day after i bought my car, the speedometer went out. 8 months later, it threw a cel for a bad speed sensor. after a and engine swap and a year and a half of driving with no speedo, it suddenly started working one morning.

My car decided it didn't want to start on the first 30 degree morning of last fall. After I sat in the car fiddling with it for 30 minutes the car warmed up inside and suddenly it started. Next cold morning, same thing. 3rd day the weather swings back to 90 degrees (Florida weather is great like that). Two weeks later, it's 40 degrees and I just know the car isn't going to start. It doesn't, but I can't for the life of me find the problem and in the 20 minutes I'm in the car the interior warms up again and it starts. I know that the only thing changing is my body heat warming something, but can't think of what that could be. The next morning I go out with tools ready to diagnose it but it starts instantly and never has the problem again even on colder days later in the winter. Car is well maintained so it's not a dead battery or the like.

The brake master cylinder started leaking from the seals on the top when I let the car sit for a while. I would come back and it would be empty. If I drove it every day or two, it didn't lose any fluid. About a month ago it just stopped leaking entirely. I leave it for several days, come back and it's still as full as when I left it. The leak seems to be gone for no reason.

I replaced my fuel pump when I first got the car and the fuel gauge stopped working. Drove it like this for 3 years without really caring since my Honda's fuel gauge hadn't worked either. Took the fuel pump out to fix a fuel pressure bleed down issue and when I put it back in it worked again. If I'd known it was that simple I would have done it 3 years previously.
