Trust me, you don't want an Evo, at least not a current Evo. I would never trade in my 2g for one. Their interior sucks. All the power in the world won't make up for their clutch issues too. The throw out bearing on an evo works backwards. It pulls the clutch instead of pushes.

I appreciate your loyalty to the dsm's but come on man you sound like the lil sister on the brady bunchROFL . The EVO is a much better car than ours in many ways, the car is not made to be a beauty queen its made to whoop as and take names. Were not beauty queens ourselves you want to look cute get a honda. The interior has racing seats, pedals, a gearbox and gauges what more you want, it can also carry you, your wife, son and 2 daughters plus groceries and beat our asses. My point is its the next step in EVOlution sorry soldier you have been replaced with a better combat unit. As for their clutches who cares its a new car of course the clutch is gonna be a arm and leg we have crankwalk and other failures you don't expect to pay the same price for a blue ray disc huhWTF were DVD's deal with it. Don't hate the player hate the game. Don't get me wrong were not neandrathals there just better accept it and move on.

Well actually buddy, the evo really only puts out about 240whp and 350whp is a big jump.

He didn't say it was to the wheels did he. It is more likely that he was making an estimation based on the bolt-on parts. I could estimate my awhp at 500-600 based on my parts but I do not. If you people want Evos so badly go get them and join another forum. That is your choice to make. I am mearly expressing my opinion that is based on facts and personal experience.

RobotLOL your talking about an evo you've never seen except in a french movie. Seems your the one reading DATA, like i said whether you like it or not the evo stock for stock or modified the only time we look better is if we have a better pocket. Stop drinking that haterrade and accept the truth. The evo is better looking inside and out, i can't believe you called MIVEC junk and the updated AWD system even without active YAW. Just like a DSM a evo was made to do what it does and if you want to add on to it expect it to break. Put 350 horses on a stock 2g clutch and see what happens. You know what this isn't even a XBOX 360 vs PS3 argument its a XBOX 360 vs PS2 argument.When was the last time you heard an EVO owner say Eff this I want my 2g back hell no.

from what im hearing the new motor will be just as strong or stronger than the current 4g63. The World Engine is being produced for a number of manufactures for higher hp 4cyl applications (Dodge Demon will have it as well iirc). like someone said before, the Evo is their pride and joy, its doubtful they would put a lesser motor in it.

im almost 90% sure i WILL buy the new evo's when they come out. I think they look badass and dont look as kiddie as they do now, more grown up, reminds me of a mix of a M3 and a Mazda6.
 
350 hp is only like 60 over stock. So what?!! I'm talking real mods. Any Evo making substantial power will tear through a clutch in a very short time. The equivilant DSM can make a clutch last for years depending on the driving. Case in point, my ACT 2600 was put in 3 years ago and has over 50k on it, went 11.82@117mph and still holds 27psi on a GT35R. It has only recently started to show signs of wear. Try this with an Evo with a clutch that costs less than $500. It will not happen.
You may be right about the Evo clutches. They are usually the first part to go out. However, it doesn't take an Evo a GT35R to hit 11s either. A simple LICP, MBC, K&N drop in w/ hacked box, 3" turboback, clutch restrictor removal, and an ECU flash from a competent tuner (not Vishnu and XEDE and other shitty tunes) will put you into the high 11s... And that costs what? $1500? maybe? And that's with a stock Evo clutch! Then add another $250 on an ACT 6-puck disk with the stock Evo pressure plate and you'll be running high 11s all day long! Just PM me if you think I'm joking... Fifth Gear showed the Evo VI beating the Evo IX on a road course by 1/2 a second. Big freaking deal...

Maybe re-read what you quoted yourself. "whp" following the 350 means wheel horsepower.

The 4g63 and the drivetrain associated with it was ahead of its time, but why bring back an old engine. Has it ever been done in the past? Dodge brought back the Hemi engines, but they're not the same engines by a long shot. Auto manufacturers wouldn't stay in business if they didn't keep improving their technology. Also keep in mind that if Mitsubishi designed their cars to reliably hold power above stock, they would maybe go the path of TRD or mopar and offer staged upgrades and warranty the car even with mods.

It's possible that the reason the 4g63s in dsms could hold so much power is because they were over-engineered since awd cars with small displacement turbocharged engines weren't something they had a lot of experience in. The tuner market accounts for a small share of the entire market, so why would they cater to us when they could put something out for a larger crowd.
 
While i'm venting i have to say the 4g eclipse is the ugliest of ugly i have ever seen:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: . Its face is ugly and the ass all my god what is that, who wokeup and said "funakisan We put big ass on eclipsesan, make look very very big, good for business, Americans love big BUTTS"

Um... I've driven an Evo 6 buddy. It's ahuge difference compared to the current Evo. It feels so much better. The handling is razor sharp. Don't tell me what I've seen and done when you don't know me. I've driven a Extreme built Evo 6. If you don't know, which I'm positive you don't, Extreme built 3 left hand drive Evo 6s and a silver one just happens to be here in the States. The car is amazing MIVEC or not. The seats are a differnet type of Recaros that have an inflatable lumbar and the lower portion extends under your knees. The dash is still a little low rent but much better than the current Evo. This is the car to drool over and not the B/S that sits on the dealer lots for a sticker price $30-34k.

I see now I understand you drove you a "EXTREME built EVO 6" (1 0f 3) which as you said I don't know about was how can you say EXREMELY built. So i'm guessing aftermarket clutch, suspension, lowered, built motor, wheels and tires, e.t.c, e.t.c and you campare that to a stock EVO ROFL ROFL ROFL . In that case in exception of the six bolt engine i know a lot of 1g cars that look better and handle better not forgetting beat the snot out of 2g's sock or not, come on don't come to DSM tuners site with that nonsense comparing a fully built vehicle to a stock one. If i had the cheese i would build a Daewoo that can out handle your 2g anyday.

Maybe but I still have a warranty :tease: and if you don't go racing around all the time, slipping the clutch like its your only job, it will last for a decent amount of miles even for those running 350awhp. Don't be sore because for the price of your turbo alone Evo's can run the same times. Don't get me wrong as far as looks go, it's an ugly box and I love the way my 2g looks over the Evo any day, but I didn't get my Evo for the looks I got it to have a new reliable DD that is decently quick. Oh and if you're arguing that handling sucks, take a look at this months MT, it's ranked 4th behind Lotus Exige-S, Porsche Cayman S, and Porsche GT3. Now compare sticker prices.
 
I Think the main goal of the petition was not to bring back the actuall 4g63 But the power it let out and the strength.. like the all wheel drive turbocharged eclipses.. yes they have the evo but the eclipse needs awd turbo please LOL... i dont think to this point id buy anything but a 1g 2g in eclipse terms .. SO yes i signed it hoping they give the eclipse some more power forced induction PLEASE!!! awd is dreamy too

Mitsu ended the Turbo AWD eclipse for practicality reasons... They weren't selling. AWD, Turbo, 2 door isn't that practical, and is expensive to insure. Yes, they have a huge following, but when they were on showroom floors, they weren't selling... I will try and find the e-mail from the rep about why they axed the 2g design.
 
Extreme was a dealer option and used Ralliart parts. There were no aftermarket parts on it. It wasn't called a Ralliart Evo 6 because it was purchased at a dealer then sent out or the dealer would send it out after receiving the car then sell it complete. The other reason was that it was around at the same time as the T.M.E. wich had almost the complete Ralliart catalog.

i think they got rid of the awd 4cyl turbo eclipse because they finally got their wish to bring the Evo into the us. they think that having the same awd turbo drivetrain in two different cars would hurt sales even more, even though for companies that have different models and very high performance versions of each, it works out very well (look at what SRT does for Dodge, or SVT for Ford. IMO it would help, cause not everyone likes the look of the current (then) Evo. if the 4g eclipse had a Evo drivetrain, sign me up. the current evo's look kiddie to me. now the new evos on the other hand, yeah, i will get one, unless the new Camaro or Challenger is the same price, which i doubt.
