I just put an AGP 50 trim turbo on and I was able to scrap all of the old lines in the process.. My question here is: What is the best way to go about plugging off the coolant nipple on the thermostat housing??

I crimped it shut with large bolt cutters then welded along the seam. I don't know if that's the best way but it worked for me.

mine just has 3 inches of hose with a bolt clamped into the end. Very ghetto and I too am looking for a better solution.

On the Laser we pulled out the nipple with some vice grips, and tapped the hole in the housing to accept an NPT plug. It might have been 1/8npt, same as EGT bungs.. Much more reliable than those rubber caps imho. Gotta give credit to Joe Bucci for that idea though.

Agreed. This is a very easy process and it is by far the best way to do it. Use a Mapp gas torch and heat up the aluminum around the nipple then just clamp on and twist it out. After that tap the hole for an NPT thread pitch and get proper the NPT plug. After than use teflon tape around the plug, heat up the aluminum (this is so you can have the metal expanded when you put the plug in much like what will happen after you get warm coolant running through it. I assume installing it cold will only lead to issues when your engine warms up and the metal expands), and Install the plug. :thumb:
