I searched but COULD NOT FIND a definitive answer on this. I recently blew my motor up, and when it went it took the transfer case and transmission with it. After looking for weeks, I still haven't been able to find a 2g awd transmission and transfer case. On the internet, I have found several marked "94-99." after studying the pictures, they look to be a match. Is there anything I'm missing or need to know? Will this work? The transmissions in question are 23 spline.

I read that if you got one you needed to get the transfer case as well. Since I'll be getting both will this fit up? I need to know asap as I need to order one within a week or two. Thanks.

The transfer case MUST be flat on top, not like a 1g style case with the big jabroney on the top of it.
Secondly, i am wondering a similar question as to if a late 92 and up tranny would fit in a 2g since its a 7 bolt. But all the gear ratios are the same, just make sure its a 23 spline tranny (with the 3 motor mounts on it) and a 23 spline 95-96 transfercase (not sure if the 94s are different) because if the case is different, meaning if it has the little knob at the top, it will NOT fit.

You just have to make sure you match late model 2G to early model 2G. If you find a 95-96 trans, you have to pick up a 95-96 t-case.. the same goes for the 97-99 parts.

All 2G t-cases are 23 splined.. they just differ internally...hence the 2G a/b stipulations. You can however use a 1G (23 spline) t-case with a 95-96 tranny.

You have to remember that 1g-90-94 trannys have no place for you to bolt up the 2g-95-99 mounts. 1g's have their mounts on the engine. 2g's have the mounts on the tranny.

he is right. 3 mounts are on the transmission in a 2g car. You can bolt a 2g trans up to a 1g but not the other way around.
