Just wondering if anyone else had this problem or might know what may be causing it. Anyhow, this just started yesterday. Everytime I push the clutch down, my engine temp. gauge needles jumps up to H, then goes back to normal when I let go of the clutch. And when I shift from 2nd to 3rd, or 3rd to 4th, it jumps above normal, but not all the way to H as it would if I was not moving. Any ideas on what the hell is causing this? My car doesn't seem to be overheating when the needles goes above normal, and seems to be running just fine. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is some kind of freaky electrical problem. You always could just disconnect the temp gauge and buy an aftermarket one.

I got a idea not sure tho so dont qote me.
When your engine is running. The coolant flows thru... maybe low coolant? Have you checkted that? i know that i have an rs and it might be a little diffent. I had low coolant and My pump would Push the coolant thru when engine is turning rpms. but when i let in the clutch the water pump isnt pushing so much fluid.(no expert or mechanic) but just an idea.. i replaced my thermastat when i put new fluid in just to make sure it wasnt that also

You have some electrical provlems most likely but driving a turbo motor in the redline (h)on the temp side is asking to blow it up and spend alot of money to replace it cause you dont know what you are doing.

It sounds like a bad ground or sending unit. There are two coolant temp sensors, one for the gauge and one for the engine. I know the gauge sending unit doesn't throw a code, but the engine one could.

My 1G had a low coolant switch, but my 2G doesn't, so I don't think that's it.
