The story: I was driving normal when I had o stop for a hole in the pavement, so I take the car out of second, fine but then it wouldn't go into gear. Ok, my tranny was ready for a rebuild, took it out replaced synchros and some other parts. Put the tranny back together replaced master and slave, clutch disk, TOB, PP. Put everything back and started the car in the air. The car shifts ok no problem but when i put it on the ground it was the same as before. When the car is off it shifts ok, when the car is on it doesn't go in any gear. If i put the car in first then try to start it wouldn't start, (like the clutch is not engaging but the pedal is fine. Any help?

I would try bleading your clutch again. Sometimes a small bubble in there can make the clutch not work. I had that problem with my old Ranger i had. Also, when u push the clutch in does it feel like it has resistance on it or is it very easy to push in? if its easy i would almost put money on it having air in the line. Let me know how it goes.

You need to adjust your clutch..I had this same problem on my '93 TSi. Crawl under the dash on the drivers side. THere will be a small rod that attaches to the clutch pedal through various linkages that goes through the firewall and pushed the master cylinder to disengage the clutch. This rod is out of adjustment. Basically you need to locate the small lock nut on this rod, crack it loose, and turn the rod so it moves towards the rear of the car. Only turn it about 1 full turn, then check your clutch again. It's easiest to grab on it with a pair of vice locks. If this isnt clear email me at [email protected] and I'll give you a better description of the process. This problem plagued my car for a month and a half and I would love to help someone with this.

I also thought it is air in the system but it did it after dropping the tranny, don't know why. And the rod is adjusted.

Bleed it again, then once more .

I had to bleed a new slave cylinder 3 times before it worked right .

I did bled several times but nothin. What i'm trying to say is that after i put the trans the car had the same exact symptoms as before dropping the trans. Can it be crankwalk?

Plus it makes a tickling noise when the clutch is pressed as if the tob was bad but it is new.

Clutch Fork may be bent, and maybe you need a new pivot.

The hard part about this, is that in order to check and be sure this diagnosis is correct you'll have to take the tranny down again.

I also thought of that but, after putting back the tranny, so I guess I'm gonna be dropping it once again in the weekend. I'll keep writing when I have something concrete. Thanks for the help!

Update: Dropped the tranny yesterday and compared the fork with a good one and it is good. Changed the slave from a running car nothing, no CW.In the air the cars shifts but as if I wasn't pushing the clutch in. Bled the system several times, adjusted the pedal nothing. Somebody help me!!

Put the car on the ground .. start the engine.. push the clutch and push the shifter GENTLY towards 1st gear .. if it starts creeping forward ..you have air in the system.

How are you bleeding the clutch?

I use a huge pleirs and depress the slave cylinder, i have a friend pump the clutch and another friend top up the fluid level.

Maybe your rubber line is kinked or deteriorated on the INSIDE ?

If i put the clutch in it is like i wasn't doin anything. try to push the shifter without pressing the clutch, that's how it feels.

On the part of the rubber line could be it though i checked it and there were no leaks so i thought it was fine (it looks kinda old), so if it damaged on the inside could be it?

How can i check this? I ask because i'm a student and as ya'll know i'm kinda broke and i don't have the money to buy everything right off.

Here are some pics the first one is without pushing in the clutch the second one is with the clutch all the way in, sorry for the quality but i took them with a cell phone, and the angle of the two of them is different but it actually moves more than it seems.

Did you get your car fixed? If so, how did you fix it? I ask because I'm having the same trouble. Thanks.

nope!! i'm going crazy!! here are the pics hat you guys think
