Anyone else have the GSX 95-99 Power Slot Plus kit? Im having TON of problems with the fitment of it. I have pretty much concluded its the wrong kit/parts and its not going to work right. Im in contact with powerslot but wanted to see if any of you had this on your cars?

My car actually has power slots on the front, without any problems, but I'm a 2g. Are you trying to install it on a 1st gen?

If I recall from some of his other posts I believe he does have a 2g. What exactly is the issue? Wrong offset, hitting on spokes or suspension, caliper doesn't clear the diameter of the rim, what rims are you using, stock, etc? Need some more info here.

Sorry I was in a rush with I made that post... I am talking about the power slot plus kit, which uses larger rotors with spacer (adaprter) brackets and the stock calipers. YES THIS IS FOR A 95-99. The car is a 99 GST with 99 GSX Front calipers (so GSX brakes). I attempted to install the kit today, rears went on fine...the fronts were a disaster.
Brackets put the calipers TOO close to the rotors so it will not all bolt up right. I sent pics to the tech center at Power Slot who agrees somethings not right. I now have to send them back to Power Slot and wait for new parts.

I wanted to see if other people had this kit on their cars (2G cars)? This way I know if there were kits made that will work and are right or if I should get a refund and go elsewhere for brakes.

Here are the pics I took for the techs at power slot... The brackets seen to need about 5 or so mm so that the caliper sits in the right place and NOT touching the rotor as it is currently.#
#
Also look at the rotor I was sent...notice the hole in it!? Passed through unseen at powerslot kinda odd but im not happy about that.#

As I said its all getting sent back but if anyone has idea let me know, its supposed to be a bolt on kit

Hmmm that seems strange, I have never heard of anyone else having issues installing these. Do the rotors measure the correct diameter for the awd brakes? If so it looks like you got the wrong caliper relocation bracket. Maybe thats the bracket for the fwd kit?

I have the same kit and mine fit ok. I had to gring a small amount of the bracket away because the spindle and bracket wre hitting each other and i couldnt get the bolts to thread into the bracket. once i remved some of the material by each bolt hole in the bracket it was fine.

The only way to fix this would be to make the spacer 1/4 longer so the caliper is slightly out farther. Or perhaps my brckets had more flashing material from the casting process.

Kind of a stupid question but, are you sure your rotors are all the way on the hub?
Terry

I have forced the rotors on as far as I can get them to go, and tried putting the wheel on to force it into the correct place if its not there already... still the same thing. I refuse to have to make spacers or anything for this, its going back to the tech center and they can figure it out. Just sucks for me that im going to have to wait it all out. I even tried to use the stock rotor on the setup since I was told by the power slot tech that they are the same height (just different diameter) and its STILL hitting and has clearance issues. hmm so i dont know at this point.

 Ok so a month later... and I finally get my replacement powerslot plus kit since the 1st one did not fit. I told them clearly to check before they sent out the new one that this one was NOT the same and there were differences in the parts or to just refund my money (since the 1st kit was a mess)
I attempted the install today and guess what, its the same crap as before... it does not fit  I have come to the conclusion after attempting to install this on my 99 and my 96 that its just not meant to be. The hat on the rotor (inside) hits the hub assembly once its most of the way on. It has about 5mm or so space more it should go back but cant, and you can see a clear ring on the hat of the rotor where it hits. You can also see the lugs are shorter then should be since part is still hidden behind the rotor. I talked to powerslot once again who informed me that some mitsubishi's aparently have slightly larger hubs then others (larger by a few mm) and that this is/maybe the problem. He also told me to "grind down the hub assembly to make it fit" I dont know about all of you but I think that thats crazy and do not want to screw around with grinding down my hubs. I can return my kit and get a full refund this point but its messed up that I have a big brake kit in the rear and stock gst rotors (for now) up front :notgood: and I killed a month of jus waiting on this crap.

(When I flip the rotor the oppisite way the reverse side of the hat will sit flush)

Any ideas or input is welcome

I just recently purchased the same kit (29-561) for my 98 GSX and am running into the exact same problems. Did you ever get a resolution for this? The only way I can see this working is to make a shim out of washers to bridge the gap or something, but I would really rather not resort to that. Did you end up returning the kit?

Cheers,
Liz

It sounds like you have 2 choices. Send it back or replace the hubs.

What did you guys end up doing?

So??

any news about the front powerslot big brake kit for 2g. Does it fit or not?? I plan to buy the same kit for ma 97 tsi awd, and I don't want to fight and have trouble for the installation.

Who's running this kit on their 2G

Well, it looks like my hubs are the larger diameter ones that 90turbotsi mentioned. I see a nice little ring around the side of the hat. I measured the inner diameter of the hats on the brembo rotors I'm currently using and, sure enough, powerslots's are smaller. I'm sending an e-mail to powerslot again today to see if they can put on larger diameter hats and rebalance them, since it looks like the rotors are two-piece. I sure hope they do, otherwise I'm going to have to send them back :(

Can you post a pic of the adapter you have? I can't see for from the pics provided but it looks like you have the wrong adapter bracket. I would also ask for a replacement rotor. That rotor it is defective and should be melted down. Powerslot should ship you the correct parts for free imo.

The guy at Powerslot sent me the technical measurements they had for the 2G GSX application and both the bracket and the rotor measurements were dead on. The reply I got from him at that point was the same as posted before, that the hub flange on a small number of 2G mitsu's were larger than the majority. He didn't explain why this is, just that powerslot doesn't support that hub flange size. His recommendation was the same as before, to grind the hub flange down a small bit in order for the hat to fit around the hub. I asked him if the flange needed to be machined down on a lathe for balance and he said no. If there are different size hub flanges for 2Gs, wouldn't it be possible to find a smaller version and install it instead? Oh well. I still haven't decided what to do. Powerslot simply doesn't make a part that fits the larger hubs.

I know this is a year old thread but I would like hear of an updated on this Powerslot situation seeing as I am looking for a brake upgrade and considering this kit.
