I have a laptop computer that I have running wirelessly through a router and I am trying to hook up to my xbox 360. Ive tried plugging directly in to it with the rj45 cable, tired going through the router and even tried using the zune software microsoft tells you to download. I cannot get it to work. Can anyone help me out with this??

Did you install the media center add on for XP?

i downloaded the Zune software that is used to transfer things to and from the xbox? is there something else I need?? Please point me in the right direction here, thanks!!

go get a ps3......

j/k i cant be of any help but i ran accross the same problem with my linksys wireless router. its a version 5. xbox 360 support told me they do not support the version 5 of the wireless router. i was like are you kidding me? stupid 360. good thing i bought it off a friend cause he needed money. good luck with your problem.

You don't need media center, I have it working with XP service pack 2.

What router is it? I had a similar problem and my router was compatible, but it didn't work correctly until I updated the firmware on the router to the most recent version. You may want to check on firmware for your router.

how exactly do you have everything hooked up? I have the internet running to my router and a wired cord to the xbox360. my computer is hooked to the router via wireless. but i cannot seem to find the xbox using the zune software it says to use, nor will the xbox find the computer. do both components need to be on wires or what? Im stumped here. what software are you using??

I'm using the Zune software and everything is wired, not wireless. I'm not sure if you can share media over a wireless connection or not. I would try to get it all working wired, and then see if you can switch to wireless.

I don't have a zune so I can't help you there. I do have XP sp2 and had to add media center. It's something you can dl from MS. I thought it was on the page I sent you... dig around for it, it's on there.

My laptop is wireless too. What kind of firewall are you running? I just installed the new AVG and it kills my XBOX/360 to laptop connection. Disable it and see if that helps.

i couldnt find it on that site, it just said the only way to upgrade to media center was to buy a media center ready PC. Maybe I didnt look in the right place. Im using norton, I can try to turn that off and see what happens.

He's talking about Windows Media Connect, it was replaced by the Zune software.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate RTM, and as soon as I turned on my 360, a notice came up in Vista showing the 360 and it set it up. Next thing you know my 360 looks like Windows Media Center. Pretty cool except it doesn't support all the media types.
