Yesterday I started noticing that signature electrical burning smell from my interior, shortly afterward I could hear the fuel pump relay clicking rapidly - This was causing the engine to stall shortly after start up. I replace the fuel pump relay first but to no avail and upon removing the ECU, I came upon an upsetting site - A leaking capacitor which is the most likely cause of the malfuntioning relay, but then noticed the melted transistor = I have no idea what this is effecting? Now, I have temperarilly rigged my old fuel pump relay to remain "ON"/"CLOSED" when ever the ignition is ON and this seems to have no adverse effects on anything else (other than the annoying clicking still coming from the relay). If anyone can give a little insight into the cause or even some inexpensive repair tips on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.
