Does anybody know if there are differences between the RM 2g AWD and FWD rear (besides thickness)? Like if you could mount the AWD on the FWD? Or are they geometrically differerent and would not fit.

BTW, the RRE 25mm AWD rear one doesn't fit a FWD.

The AWD one is cut out to fit around the rear diff and exhaust, I doubt that would work on a GST, but I could be wrong

Yes they are totally different.

Will the RRE bar allow for a 3" exhaust system? I know that's one of the reasons a lot of people go with the RMDSM bars.

So basically with a FWD, with coilovers, adj. shocks, strut bars; adding the RM sways are going to yet still continue to make the car feel like its on rails?

I'm very interested in very spirited mountain driving and just going fast around turns period. Would these continue to help me stick and get in and out of the corners easier?

Thanks,
Justin

Sounds like you answered your own question right there.

So no? Damn... I like going through RRE.

Yes they do.....RRE sells the RMDSM bars. They will fit around a 3" exhaust.:thumb:

RRE no longer makes their large bar. They will make them if you request but they heavily advise against it. They "said" that they tried to do all this bracing, but the bar would literally rip the supports right out of the frame.

Which bar are you talking about, a sway bar or a chassis brace? I was looking at getting the lower control arm tie bar that they have listed on their site (or the tanabe one) when I get my sway bars, is this the bar your refering to?

I have the RRE swaybar and it clears the Apexi N1 no problem. I had a pretty lengthy conversation with a few different guys at RRE about road racing in general and about this bar. It has 3 settings, and even at the softest it made a huge difference. It should, it's about an inch thick (the 3rd pic gives a better idea of how thick it is). They've used it in quite a few cars and had no problems. Its RRE's own design, I've yet to see something they designed themselves not be one of the best you can buy. Just look at their strut bars, they're one of the few who understand a well built strut bar is only 1 piece, with no bolts holding the bar to the plates which have play/flex and defeat the purpose of a STB.

What makes that bar so stiff is the fact that the "arms" don't bend. It's actually no thicker than a RM bar, but the arms on an RM bar bend a lot.

Would there be any disadvantage to running a bar that stiff on the street or would you just have a really tight handling car?

I drive my car daily with that bar, I do catering deliveries in it too. You don't even notice the bar is there most of the time. You just can't drive like an idiot and enter a turn fast, let off the gas and turn in hard, you'll oversteer hardcore and you can spin if you have no idea what you're doing, it's pretty easy to get sideways if you want.

If you do a quick U turn or hit a tight ascending or descending hairpin on a canyon road, you can feel the inside rear tire lift a little, it also lifts pretty high off the ground when entering/exiting a steep driveway at an angle. It's pretty weird at first, you'll give it gas to start moving but the power is transferred to the wheel off the ground and the car will kind of stutter while our silly center diff tries to comprehend what the hell is going on, and when it finallydoes you'll get a pretty nasty jerk as the power is transferred, if you were a little throttle happy.

The new U-turn capabilities are a very cool bonus. I did the ultimate change, by taking my stock swaybar out, but having to drive for 2 weeks with it out because i got way to busy when i was takking it out, so when i put the RMDSM bar in, wow.

I also read that there wasn't much benefit from putting in the front sway bar on the AWD and that it might actually make it perform worse than just with the rear, is this not true then? I just want to clarify. I also plan on installing Megan Racing Coilovers and front and rear strut bars if that make s a difference.

Thanks,

Start with the rear sway bar, put your Megan Racing coil-overs on and then take it someplace that does corner-weighting. The biggest advantage to having coil-overs is the ability to corner-weight your car. Then after you have that done, attend a track day with your car and make any adjustment and determine from that if the front sway bar is necessary. Many people buy aftermarket suspension parts without real reason. Find a reason to upgrade something, don't just upgrade it because its an aftermarket part. There are some aftermarket parts on the market now days are worse than OEM.

taking a right-hand 90' turn at 35+ mph = just ridiculous (especially the look on people's faces in the left hand turn lane that you are heading towards ROFL )

(I know it's old, but I just had to comment)

ROFL, indeed fun. I did a 90* turn at 40. But where I did this it was going into 3 lanes, so I chose the middle to not scare the crap out of the turn lane :D. Zero body roll for me when I did this so I was utterly amazed with how well the sways worked in unison with my coilovers. And my tires didn't hurt the neutral feeling either.

I have MR Sways front and rear and even on the street doing that turn I didn't feel any resistance from the front to turn in.

Anyone know of a shop that actually stocks these? They are backordered according to the main site. All the places I have called do not actually stock them they just order in upon request. Any help would be nice.

Why are all of you looking for RMDSM? Is it that good? Suspension Techniques aren't comparable to RMDSM?

SWAY BARS ROCK!!!

Yes, I'm the one to post the 100th reply!!

I rock.

Yes RMDSM bars are thicker, therefore are better at preventing sway, reducing roll.
