Would this cause my boost to spool slowly? shop said i need a new wastegate actuator to correct my slow spool and boost creep problems.. thanks for help -ted

You have 2.5" exhaust so you should not creep at all. What RPM do you hit full boost? I would guess a huge boost leak or leak between mani and turbo. Ill be surprised if the actuator has failed, you can find them real cheap though. Do a boost leak test.

did boost leak test, leaks are very tiny, and it holds 10-14 pounds well. Manifold has a small leak at the bottom bolt on the end of the manifold. I dont hit full boost until about 4500 -5000 rpm..

as the car is first fired up, boost goes to about 15 psi fairly quickly, then as i drive it around and it warms up... high boost is about 11-12 pounds with very slow spool

It could be the mani leak, does it ever feel like no boost at all? Pull of the intake and check for turbo shaft play. In and out is not bad compared to side to side play. Try to move it side to side and dont be scared to push a little hard. If you feel it move the turbo could be dieing and the wheels are rubbing the housing.

turbo is good. in/out, but no side to side... i think your right about the manifold leak, it is rather loud at idle, you can hear it if you open the hood. looks like i will fix the manifold then see if the boost problem is still their, thanks for all the help!! -ted

** i was on the highway a few days ago, and i downshifted to third, got on it... boost came on, then all the sudden i heard the turbo, and absolutely no power.. that has to be a boost leak?? but it has only happened about 2-3 times in the last 1500 miles

have you checked the door operation well. Unhook the wastegate arm and make sure it opens and closes fine. Also you can check the wastegate itself by just hooking up a bike pump to it and see it it will move that arm to swing the door open or not when pressure builds on it. On a side note, I had 2.5" full exhaust and would creep like crazy.. had to get a bigger flapper to stop it. Just depends on how free flowing your entire exhaust system is and how well that turbine housing is able to dump the air.

There should be NO IN AND OUT and little or no side to side shaft play. If there is in and out shaft play it wont be long before your burning oil and need to replace the turbo.

Im going to be running 3in open dp for two days... I hear i may creep pretty badly even though Im only on a 14b... Except my wastegate, o2 ,manifold is completly ported out so i dont know.

But for

Id recommend a boost leak test, and check for other leaks that you may of havent noticed around the manifold, and possibly consider just picking up a completely new exhaust manifold and waste gate ( and you might as well upgrade while your at it. ):thumb:
