I'm on my way home from work yesterday, and I decided to punch it in 5th gear. Long story short, when I hit 15+psi, my boost shoots straight to 20(not like the gradual climb) And my revs shoot high, but the car doesn't move to complement the increase, as if I lost traction or something. The weird thing is, this only happens in 5th, not in 3rd or 4th. Any ideas? WTF

Sounds like your clutch is slipping badly. There will be a greater tendency for this to happen in numerically higher gears since the torque mutiplication is lower and more load is placed on the motor/clutch assembly. If the clutch releases towards the top of pedal travel, you can try adjusting the slave rod counterclockwise to lower the engagement point. Likewise, if your release is low, try raising a bit to see if this helps. Often a misadjusted engagement point will cause these issues and possibly contribute to excessive clutch wear.

Hope that helps,

Andy

Hmm. Good info. I'll check that before I dig any deeper. Maybe this will kill my 4-day old clutch chatter syndrome too. Thanks alot!

Are you saying that the clutch is 4 days old? Or it just started chattering 4 days ago?

Andy-I did the rod adjustment, and drove around for about an hour. As of right now, I'm holding 20 psi in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Things appear good for now, so thank you very much. :thumb:

Defiant-I definitely will not count out the possibility of a worn clutch, I've had it for about 2 1/2 years now. I will continue to closey watch how my car behaves so thank you for the advice as well. :thumb:

Also, my clutch isn't chattering. Weird imo that just adjusting the rod took care of that, but I'll be looking out. :dsm:

I had similar issues and adjustment helps, but it's kind of a temporary bandaid that will only work for so long. Anyway, I'm glad it helped, but you should start saving your pennies for a new clutch.
