Hey guys. I just got a Quaife from a friend (he had it laying around for years and never had it installed). I'd like to know where you guys got your speedometer gear for the diff. I need to get one soon so if I can avoid ordering from RRE (which is in Cali while I'm in NY), I'd like to. Let me know. Thanks!:)

RRE is the place ive ever heard of having them... always been curuios at what they meant by this "Differential Bearings (if your mechanic is a wuss, you will need these, 2 required for all front and center diffs EXCEPT for the EVO front diff)" anybody?

As for the ring gear, it is an OEM Mitsu part, so any dealer can get it for you. I don't know the part number off my head, and and I little too tired to search for it right now, sorry.

As for the bearing question, on the diff itself, there are bearings on either side. They are pressed on bearings, and can be a real PITA to remove/install. Since the bearings are cheap enough ($20ea.), IMO its easier and safer to just use new bearings.

I'll include a pic of the new diff bearings installed on my KarKing ATB diff, which is nearly identical to the Quiafe, but with the speedo ring gear cast into the diff like the stock diff. I'll also include a few links regarding Quaife install info.

So it is an oem part. Thanks a lot. I'll put my friend at the dealer to work LOL.

Personally I think it's good practice not to reuse bearings that have been pressed on like that. The extra $40 is peace of mind that they won't whine or generally be an issue.

I bought my KAAZ, bearings and speedo ring from them.. you have to plan ahead when dealing with RRE.. damn west coast location!

On a side note, how do you like the KarKing diff?
