I need a new fuel pump assembly. No shops stock them anymore for the 95s, and they are special order only parts. 495.00 :(

My baby's still down too  . I was victim of redneck wrenchers on my first rebuild. Now its being re-built by competent people who know about the mighty 4g63. I just got news that my shortblock should be finished in about two weeks :D After i get it back, one week of installation/gettin it to run( :barf: ) you people know how much fun that is putting an engine back in and getting it to run...yyyeeaaahhh... WTF

Well mine has been down since December cause of a flywheel explosion(I miss shifted) :notgood: . Flywheel took out almost everything under the hood and put bad dents in hood too. Head should be back from machine shop this weak. That is the last thing I'm waiting on to get my car up and running again.

Today was the first day I really had it out on the road. I bought the car about a month ago, and 2 weeks after I bought it the timing belt stripped 24 teeth, and bent 2 exhaust valves. Once I got the head off, I was looking at the cams, and noticed the journals on the cams were all grooved up and really rough, so I bought a new head/cams/valvetrain, and did some other basic upgrades while the car was apart. Total rebuild time was about 7-8 hours, but it took a week since I had to locate/have my parts shipped in. Started tearing apart on a sunday night, it was running by the next friday night, and on the road my saturday night. 3 hours after I got it running, the compressor wheel in the turbo locked up....and I drove with no boost for 2 weeks. This past weekend I upgraded my 13g to a 14b and had to wait for new banjo bolts and crush washers to come in...which I still havent gotten, but the car runs...and it runs damn good. Its so nice to have back :thumb:

Well i feel a little bit better after reading this.Im having a simple clutch job and t-belt replaced on my 95 TSI AWD. Evry 2 hours i get a call that everything else is falling apart. My axles are fused into my hubs.My ball jionts are falling apart, and luckly i had this done now because my transfer case had almost no fluid in it. And to much body work to list.
Not so bad though my G/F lets me drive her N/T Talon. No boost :toobad:
I hope after all the $$$$$$ im spending, hopefully when i drive it ill get that smile back on my face

My son's GST is down for about a month now after he got to drive it for about a week after it was down for almost 2 months LOL. Bought the car with bad turbo, replaced the turbo went to start it didnt get any oil pressure messed up the exhaust cam he bought a new head and all the gaskets along with new belts. put the head on got the car to run like a dream then the front balance shaft seizes stripping all the teath off the belt but not breaking it (Thank God) cut off the belt (stupid move on his part but he has to learn somewhere right) drove the car around everthing seemed to be ok then out in the middle of nowhere he spins a rear balance shaft belt causing the oil pump to stop making the timing belt to jump and bend every exhaust valve in the head took off the valve cover the valves hit so hard it knocked all the rocker arms off the valves so its down again untill he gets the money for a rebuild kit. (note this isnt his first dsm but he seems to be having bad luck with this one) :dsm:

sounds alot like my old gst ROFL

i was planning on using its 6 bolt bottom end in my 93tsi, but now decided against that. the car was nothing but trouble, while it may not be the blocks fault, i dont want anything from that car in my tsi. starting from scratch.

i havent sat in my car for a week, blew capacitors and ordered the parts, still not here yet,... anyone know how hard it is to resolder them?

edit: ended up buying a new ecu from the dealer, (its eprom, AND SHINNY)

now the cars down for a new jrc fmic, dejon lower and upper intercooler pipes, dejon smim, dejon intake pipe, k&n 9 inch air filter, 3" gm maf, maft, ac removal, and most likely winter...(its starting to get really cold, and that means the rains coming soon... the new paint job will not approve of that...)

I'm guessing you're talking about the three (?) capacitors on the ECU board.. It's easy to replace them, but if you have problems with the ECU (like error codes for sensors that are good) it's too late for that. Some copper tracks and/or components on the board are probably damaged. You'll have to clean the board and examine it. Many sensors share the same grounds, so take a note what the car is not/doing. Sometimes a few jumper wires will fix it, but if you're not into this whole electronics stuff you might want to look for a rebuilt unit.

My car was down for almost 5 months. I broke my 3-4 shift fork doing a 2-3 shift at 7500 RPM's which also took out most all my gears and broke the intermediate shaft. TRE did the tranny and I had to wait for funds. Installed a whole load of goodies (Basicly every mod I currently have) while it was down. Tore motor apart cause I thought I might have valve issues since when I bought the car the ext. cam was a few teeth off. Ended up everything was KOSHER. Couldn't wait for my forged motor any longer so I put the stocker back together and pull the motor and tranny in. After 8 seconds of running my oil pump seized up. I really wanted to a new one anyways but couldnt afford a new one. Also it took out my timing belt but again my valves escaped unscathed. New OEM front case and new revised oil pump and new timng belt later - ( 1 week). Runs like a champ in N/A mode. my B16G was really hollowing and not boosting. Tossed it in the trash and put hte 14B back on. Now car pulls hard and my HX-35 is going on in hopefully 3 weeks. Oh yeah... Ater first restart My ECU was in limp mode and running all kinds of Fed up. After a lot of tuning and burning TONS of chips for my ECU I have no knock lots of power and a thirst for more. :)

Mine has been down for around a month now.

2nd tranny went out. So now I have went thru 1 automatic, and 1 5-speed.

I also have cracked rings in the third cylinder, and a blown head gasket.

So within the next month it's a new (to me) tranny to put in, and an engine rebuild. At least I don't have to do the full tranny swap this time around. LOL

my tranny is making noise... waiting for new fluid to get here, hope this fixes it.

Busted automatic tranny. Still trying to decide where to go next.

Mine's been dead pretty much since I bought it, which has been since Jan '04. I inherited an electrical nightmare (ghetto wired stereo, ghetto wired alarm, 47 counts of knock when given throttle, etc etc.)

Should be up in the next month or so, though. Or perhaps it'll take another year.... who knows?

ive been down for about a year now. my talon needed way too much work to pass the safety check, i wish i didn't even buy the car. but its close now, just have a stubborn bolt on one of the calipers that i cant get off no matter what i do. as soon as i put the new caliper on, im set.

My recipe for hard to remove bolts:

1.) Hose it with PB Blaster (or other penatrant) both sides and let it baste overnight.
2.) Heat with a BernzOMatic propane torch.
3.) 1/2 Drive Breaker Bar (or pipe around handle of 3/8" drive) to crack loose.
4.) Replace worn bolts / anti-sieze any new or reusable bolt.

:dsm:

Mines been dead for a month and a half. Blown 14b and now grayest smoke from tail pipe.

My mom backed into mine with her Blazer
Good news is she hit a spot that I had already repaired with bondo....and it didn't crack! A new fender and it's on it's way.

my eclipse was down for 3 months because of a very bad clutch then 2 week after getting it fixed the timing belt jumped 2 teeth last week. every thing is fixed now

um... if you have metal shavings in your oil, chances are just cleaning them out isnt going to do much...

on that note... new tranny fluid did not fix the problem. the old stuff came out thin as water (the dealership said it was fine) and there was metal shavings in it... looked like glitter water. Well, now it is at a different dealership and the tranny is getting looked at and hopefully it will get replaced under warranty.... sucks it wont be ready for the dsm swap meet on saturday at e-town... oh well.

yep, i have crankwalk too. i was thinking about selling my gst and getting an srt or cobra but its too late. i just bought my 91 6 bolt. the only problem is that i need some help finding a thread on this. so if you guys can help me out id appreciate it a lot? or if anyone knows of a shop in chicago who works on dsm's let me know.thanks.
