Ok WHOAAAAAAA...

The pricing thing falls down to my line of work.

You guys say everyone needs to make a buck so if the EVO GT is cheaper for vendors they can sell it at the same price as the real EVO III and it be ok.

NO WAY!!!!

I sell automation equipment to factorys. We have the same thing happening here. We have prox sensors. One brand is higer quality, one is lower quality. They both work the same and do the same exact thing. While the lower quality one may have a led or light on it while the higher quality one does not. We get the lower quality ones for cheaper and sell them for cheaper.

WE MAKE THE SAME % PROFIT ON A CHEAPER PART AS A MORE EXPENSIVE PART. It's called morals. How can you fell good about making 10% on one item and 30% on another lower quality item. Our customers find that out they would be pissed. We can't sell a lower quality item at the same price. We have to pass our discount along to the customer otherwise they go elsewhere.

It's simple buisiness ethics!!!!!

Sell the EVO GT but pass along the damn price break it's that simple, and for crying outloud call it something else. It is not an EVO turbo.

And I stated this before also... I agree 100% call it Buschur's GT or something. Nothing to do with the Evo or Mitsu in the title. Just a general question though, isn't it copyright if they use Mitu or any part of their name for the title of a proudct they do not have any participation with?

By now everyone knows it's not a true "MHI" unit. Changing the name won't really do anything but give you all peice of mind.

I'd worry less about arguing about the name, and worry more about how it performs.

BUT! Would you pay the same price for a cheaper built version of the Evo 16g? I think that is more of the argument....

Thats not true at all!!!

I had a buddy o fmine tell me the other nigth he got a new turbo for his 2G. I was like o yeh which one?

He replies EVO III GT Turbo... I was like what!!! He goes ya I go an EVO III.

I said wait a sec is it a GT or EVO III? He says EVO III GT. So I explain it and we look at turbo sure enough he got screwed thinking it was a real EVO III.

NOT EVERYONE KNOWS. I think thats the biggest issue. The name is VERY misleading!

It would be stupid to rename the turbo. why should vendors have to do that? because some people are to stupid to actually read the entire description of what they are buying. I have the regular EVO 3 16g from MHI and i like it, but what i don't like is how i spent all of that extra money to get it ported. I wish this turbo was available when i got my 16g cause i probably would have bought it. And onestly you guys are talking about quality of the two turbo's, what is the big difference.... nothing really just MHI uses more nickel and some other stuff. But the GT has proven it self, to me atleast, by running strait at max engine rpm from 168hrs. Who in the world would ever run thier car for 168hrs strait, NO BODY. Sure that is only 168hrs but that is 168hrs with no rest. In the real world you will have the turbo resting for a good amount of time in between uses. Like Dave said he has sold over 50 of them him self with no one complaining and he is only one company selling it.

Maybe Buschur should rename it the BR350GT16XXXSTFU so there is no more confusion as to what it really is.

If you/he are so unhappy, why not just return the unused turbo in the original packaging along with a check for $200 to cover a manual port job and upgraded flapper in exchange for a "Mitsu" version as that's what you wanted? Or you can beat the hell outta the GT taking full advantage of the 12mo/12k "no quibble" warranty and spend that extra dough on supporting mods.

On a different note.. anxiously awaiting SBRs response to this new evidence and/or their metalurgists analysis of the inferior color of the China ..er Tawainese Turbo

My question is for SBR...did they ever get results from the metalurgist they were supposedly taking all the components of the turbo too? I would interested to see what he would have to say about the composition and strengths of the those components. As far as I saw it they made a lot of "claims" in their comparison but they just seemed opinionated and had no facts except, "the color is different." I would just like to see something in writing from someone supporting their claims who actually can tell if the materials used are stronger or not.

As for Buschur, I'd like to see some testimonials from the 50 or so people who are running these turbo's.

I am all for getting a better performing turbo for cheaper, whether its made in China or not, but something other than claims from either side would be nice.

Did I just read this right? Woopty do it spun 168 hrs straight with no rest.... ummm does your turbo in the car spin with no stop NO.

You have lack of oil on start up which is what causes bearing wear. Start and stop, speed up slow down. Those things are what causes the most stress not spinning for 168hrs straight. What kind of test is that?

O and to the guy saying just return it... The vendor won't take it back because it was installed. He had no clue there was anything other then the EVO III when he ordered so when he got a GT he didn't know it untill I informed him. I guess we'll see how well these cheap turbos fair in a year. We'll see who is talking then!

So he didn't research the product, that's his own fault.

Agreed

Guess so, can't trust companys anymore.

Maybe thats where this problem stems from, a marketing ploy ment to deceive. WTF

It helps me sell more of the real EVO III 16g from MHI!

At least post your metalurgist's results... It's been a while since you said you were going to do it next week......

As soon as I have the results, so will the rest of you.

If anyone wants to stop by the shop as well, we have both turbos torn down on the front counter for anyone to fondle.

MGH

Well then your friend should talk to an attorney because he has the right to return the turbo if he got the wrong product and was unaware of it at the time of install. If the vendor says go f*ck your self then he can tell them to go f*ck them selves and slam them with some type of law suit, just had a test on all this type of sh*t in Buisness Law last week.

Listen I'm not a mechanic i dont' know everything about cars or how alot of shit works so sorry for being impressed by a turbo boosting for 168hrs strait. I'm not trying to say that this turbo is the best turbo ever made for a DSM, cause it's not, but it is a good alternative to some one looking to spend in the 600-800 dollar price range. Yes the EVO 3 16gMHI cost in that range two but factor in all the other stuf you get with the GT and the Install kit for 2G's and then you have your price range.

cheaper built version of the Evo 16g?

Proof of cheapness or shut the hell up. Aside from different colors, places of origin, and price tag, what makes the one turbo "cheaper" than the other? SBR posted results on thicknesses and such, and so did another (supposed) company, and still we have no "real" results. People need to quit jumping on bandwagons.

If your friend can't tell the EVO III GT from the EVO III 16g, than that is his fault, sorry. If he didn't ask "is this the real deal?" at the time of order, why is it the vendor's fault? Now, maybe I missed something and he was told it was an MHI turbo, but if not, that's his problem and not the vendor's.

" Shut the hell up".. come on now.. grow up. prove its NOT cheap and more people would stop talking about it... until then its just like any other new turbo... prove its NOT cheap and people will buy it. if its not a true MHI.. then who makes the center section, bearings.. 270 thrust im assuming?! the compressor cover looks identical accept for the EVO III GT casting on the outside. But the turbine housing looks really weird, i wonder whats the differences in the volute of the turbine housing>?

Thats good reliable information why would you choose to bash one of the best reputable companies out there for DSM's...

I will be buying one of these turbos for my next DSM. or Possibly my Subaru

*Last picture shows it all that the write up SBR did was not even true, how much confidence do you have in SBR's write up now? I sure don't have alot.

Also with the price of the Evo3gt being the same as the regular evo3... Well if you consider if already had a 100-200$ porting job a 50$+ 34mm flapper job that you would have to do to the MHI evo3 turbo to make it the same specs to the evo3gt turbo then it actually comes out to be MUCH cheaper.

this is a free country so if you want one then go right ahead and buy one. who's stopping you :thumb: ! i like my mitsubishi evo III it is greeee888888T!

bushcur we want to see on the car performance stats not some write up stats! :shhh:

this is funny... everyone is forming an opinion on the turbo, and the only people who actually have one are the vendors. ROFL One of them took it apart and has no idea what is going on inside or what it is even made of! Am I the only one who has been laughing at this thread? WTF

why don't you just take the turbine housing off of the GT and put it on the MHI turbo and save people a few hundred dollars for porting and stuff?

Yea very mature and you read into it wrong. I meant cheaper as in cheaper to manufactuer as in PRODUCE. I think it's somewhat unfair to charge the same price "Evo GT" vs. 16g. Pass the savings onto the consumers since the DSM is a rapidly growing market. I think they should change the name, how would you feel if you bought Ralph Lauren or Polo from Wal*Mart and come to find that it's not the "real" Polo or Ralph Lauren? You are sitting there assuming everyone is smart enough to see the housing that specifically says EVO III GT and have them NOT believe it's not from an Evo? Come on now....I still say rename it. Like I said before, isn't it illegal anyways to use or endorse a product that uses a model name from Mitsubishi without their consent or participation?

Now do you mean the Evo III GT? Or the actual Evo 16g turbo? And if you mean the GT Turbo, you do realize it's not from an Evo and has nothing to do with Mitsubishi right?
