I was examining the possibility of making my own exhaust with a buddy last night. He recently got his tig and mig certificates as well as a few others, and he asked why not just make expansions and clamp every thing together? I said because the steps will create turbulance......but than he said he wasn't sure how clean he can tig just yet.

I was just wondering how much the tiny steps in slip fit exhausts affect overall flow of the exhaust.

Thanks,
defno

those little steps are extremely small. Slipfit is actually much nicer IMO than having to deal with flanges and gaskets etc. And just mig it, i wouldnt even bother tig welding it.
