Who else has plunged into this field? I'm only in the 2 and 300 level courses right now, but I think it's pretty cool. Maybe someday I'll be able to design an ECU for DSMs that doesn't suck.

If you are in this field, please jump in this thread and we can help each other out.

Electrical Technician, signing the papers to get shipped out two weeks from now. Navy rulez, yo! ;)

Electrical Engineer....its funny....i got this little electrical lab kit for christmas when i was in 4th grade...made a radio, a walkie talkie, tons of shit with it....then i get into my circuits class and everyone has no clue what theyre doin cept me....thanks mom and dad :thumb:

Computer engineer in the hiz-ouse!

anybody find a job not invloving a cubicle?

ever hook anybodys nipple rings to a function generator when they pass out drunk?
quality edumacation right there buddy, definetely a square wave,

Me too. Yeah, I replace fuses and transformers all day long.

Bench Tech.

LOL!!! ROFL I gotta get my professor drunk next time and try this on him! :thumb:

Aerospace and Industral Engineer here.... I have taken enough of both worlds to have a minor in electrical

I'm glad to see others in this field. What kind of jobs do you get right out of school? I haven't looked into that yet.

BTW who wants to help me with my decryption project? :sneaky:

Dan

I wish i would be a network engineer in the future. but since i changed my major from Com E to EE, i might as well be working in semiconductor field. will be my second sem junior next fall.

3rd year Computer Engineering student here!

Going to Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo! :thumb:

Electrical engineer, working on a masters at CSU. Pain in the ass when you're still working 35 hrs/wk. But, someday I'll have more money than sense and one fast car...

I'll be working on my BSEE at UCCS pretty soon myself, hopefully....

Working on all the grunt classes first, though. (Speaking of which, it's time for me to bust out some of my piddly algebra homework....)

no mechanical engineering majors? :rocks:  more money for me
I'll be workin' on a minor in mech when/if I ever get there... ROFL

Mechanical Engineering Technology right here. I get to have all the fun. I can't stand sitting in an office so that's why I'm not an ME. Let's see, so far I've learned metallurgy processes, welding and casting. Pretty damn cool so far.

ME over here. Not all ME jobs are desk jobs, the field is huge so it depends on what you want to do. For example, pure design and analysis is primarily a desk type job, but you can go into design and R&D which is fun. Here's an example of the senior project ME's can do at my school, there's a lot of strength calcs, fluid dynamics, etc involved, but a lot of hands on shiz too. http://www.csupomona.edu/~fsae/index2.htm The last mini-formula car they made used a forced induction gsxr. I'm probably going to sign up for the '06 car they are making so I can kill my senior project and have fun at the same time.

AHHHH!!! That would hurt like a motherf*****! (speaking from just having my nipples pierced)

I'm currently enrolled in EE but am switching out for sake of expediant graduation. I can graduate with my pre-dental stuff and a degree in chem in about 4 more semesters, but if I stay in EE it will take me at least 6 more. :(

Interesting stuff though, imaginary numbers can kiss my a** in linear alg and diff eq. And then there is the whole lovely world of phasors (no not like on star trek), or how about endless RLC circuit analysis..... :|

I'm an electrical engineer. I migrated towards the electromagnetics fields area though, so I don't do circuits or microelectronics (though I am competent with a soldering iron). I work with radar systems and radar cross section (and write software for radar cross section and stealth prediction, http://www.radarsoftware.com ).

Im going to school for mechanical engineering technology right now but im switching to electrical.

I'm a ME.

This thread looks like a good place to pose a question about making an electircal device.

I want to make a device that will flash a LED if battery voltage goes under 11.5V, and flash the same LED twice as fast if battery voltage goes above 15.5V. The voltage numbers I gave are just estimates and i might decide to change the acual numbers at which it will flash.

I assume this could be done with a chip with some simple logic programmed in, but I have no idea.

To me it seems like it would only require two wires, one positive voltage to be measured, and one chassis ground.

If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. PM me if you can help.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm taking a class in Digital Design right now... you might be able to do it with a simple finite state machine or something. :thumb:
