In my oppinion I dont think thats a rod knock. It is not consistant with the engine revotions and its only on the left side. Its weird because its very cosistant with what ever it is attached to. Does the knock go away when you give it gas or does it get worse. It could be alot of things (timing belt tensioner slap, something in the trans. Let us know what you find.

I believe it is something in the tranny. I now have a leak in the underside of the transmission. I just got this back from a certain tranny shop. I guess i will wait to see what he says.

There you go. Your trans leaking tells you theres something wrong. Take it easy on it untill you get it to the shop. Glad To help out

I have the exact same sound. Except it's when the car is OFF. It ticks like that for about 1 minute after I turn the car off. Here what you should try to do, start the car and get it to tick like so. Then unplug the ISC harness from the ISC. See if it goes away. I would also like to know what this is cause mine does it EXACTLY; but only when the car is off.

Well this is a Shep tranny that i just got back from him. I am taking it off and sending it back to him. The knock is DEFINATELY coming from the tranny and not the engine...which is a good thing.

I'm telling you right now it is not the transmission. Don't jump to conclusions unless you really like to throw money away. I have the same sound and it definately comes from the throttle body/intake manifold area.

Please I'm not trying to be a dick but do what I told you to do in the above post. It COULD save you a tonne of money.

LOL...it is not my Throttle Body. Yes i did get under the car and yes whatever it is punched a hole through the bell housing.....kind of hard to do from the throttle body. I think you are listening to the wrong sound. I know about the INtake sound, but that wasn't the one i was talking about.

It just doesn't make sense to me. Heres a surefire test. Get a buddy to push the clutch in while it's idling and see if it still makes that sound. If it does, then how can it be the tranny? With the clutch in, nothing is turning within the transmission to make the sound. Give it a shot. Takes 5 seconds.

It's defintely not in your motor. Notice how every so often it's louder, almost in a pattern. Well, rod knock would be a lot louder than that, and would increase with rev's. It would also hold a constant sound pattern, not low then high low then high, etc.

Yeah i was told. I talked to Shep and he said he will look at it for me to see what could have happened.

Yeah, I got rod knock, MUCH louder and more frequent tapping noises.

I can defintely tell you it is not rod knock, trust me when I say I know what that sounds like. Good luck with the fix.
