When did you first 'tasted' speed and on what car ?

The need for speed in my life began as a child. When I was 7 my dad owned a 1967 Corvette. It was one of the rare Stingray Fastback models with A 427. It was a beautiful mint condition dark green monster. He had to sell it when we moved to help pay for the house. To this day I would love to get my hands on that car for myself.

First time was a VW Corrado... man.. those things can make nice sleepers... i we hit close to 140 mph and it was still rock solid.... and it got up there pretty quick too.... not sure what the guy did under the hood..

Same as gotEclipseD... s2000 was the next one.... some client at work had one, and i was sitting there in a meeting just staring out the window at his car... .so before he leaves he's like "wanna go for a boot" . . ."i was like..heeelllll yes" . . . fishtailed out of the parking lot and before i knew it we were already at 80 mph (in a 35 zone!). man... running a 6spd with a seemingly infinite redline is taxing on the ears though.

For me it started when i got a ride home from my friend in his 92 trans am ws6. it was an auto but man that thing pulled. the bug really hit when i got my first car it was a 87 mazda RX-7 i drove that thing to the ground. The only problem it ever gave me was when the alternator belt broke. after that i sold it bought an 89. i still love RX-7's but i watned somthing new so i got my talon.

I'm not all so sure about the "genetic" thing..cas both my parents drive slower then christmas coming for an 8 yr old...my cousins..well I had to show one of them where the battery was in his Bmer...but me..I used to beg my dad to take me to the drag strip when I was 11-12ish..even now when I go it's just like the first time...the smell...the sounds..*sighs* has to be what heaven will be like (well heaven for me...I'm sure for some people it would not be so grand) and when I bought my first car..a 94 Berretta (commonly known as the butt-retta..for endearing reasons) and I got on the interstate on the way home and hit 120..I was hooked...I dont think a day has gone by that if I have drove a car that had the capability to go 100+ that I haven't managed to find a stretch to open the car up and let it sing.

my genetic material is kinda sub-par as far as fast driving is concerned. my parents owned a catalina for nigh on forever. the shocks were gone when they bought it, and they didn't replace them in the 4 years they owned it. oh lord, don't get me started.

basically i got it from my friends, who were seemingly all blessed with muscle car guy dads.

i'm not at all bitter.

Stock 94 Formula. Test drove it round town. It seemed extremely fast. Of course I was used to driving a 98 Ford Escort Sport. Soo I guess just about anything would have seemed fast. Even my current car.:(

it was probaly when i took a ride in my brother's TT Supra at 110 mph, i think i was like 13, man that thing was fast.

1999 3000 GT VR-4 Running 19 PSI Progressive N2O Front Mount Intercooler UGGGHHH ORGASIM IN THE CAR ! ! ! !

always loved going fast, but it was when i got to drive my fiance's best friend's 1999 GSX, jsut the thoughts of that day make me shiver
peace poEt

mine was on the very car i own now. my dad was friends with the guy who owned it before. i use to ride around with him all the time and i always wanted it. i was hooked to a dsm when i was 14 (i'm 17). the guy decided to sell it a year ago and my dad bought it for me ( $4,500 ).
i don't think i will let this car ever go, even when it is blown to hell and causing dead grass spots in my lawn and grease spots in my garage.

I can't remember when I got the "bug" but I've been around race cars since I was born. My dad first worked on drags around the time I was born. Then on he worked on dirt tracks till about the time I was 16 then he became a truck driver. But he's still on my "pit crew". And he's a damn good mechanic. Took him no time to learn my car inside and out ..converting from hotrods. If I haveto chose it is his 82 Z-28 camaro with a twin tbinjected stingray vette motor and auto racing trannty. Still have it in the garage just needs some TLC.

I was 13 and my friend was real drunk so he let me drive his 1970 mustang 302 for a 13 year old that was the sh#& I went to an abandon parking lot and got it up to 95 on short straight away since then Ive had 7 speeding tickets and lost my license 3 times I get paranoid whenever I drive anywhere. cops in VA suck they pull you for anything Ive been pulled 5 times for newspollution, 7 times for speeding 2 were reckless, 2 times for exhaust, ticket for my tv, I dont drive without thinking every car behind me is going to pull me over it really sucks.

I'd have to say the first real time i drove a fast car was my neighbors 69' Corvette Stingray Blown and injected...excess of 500hp, i had my permit and he let me drive it real slow through the neighborhood but one time we were on a straight road with no houses and he told me to punch it, i did...tires just kept spinning...threw me back in my seat when it finally got grip, got up to about 75 and i stopped, i fell in love with that car. But one of the fastest cars i ever rode in was the car that got me into imports...my co-worker has a 94 Nissan 240sx with the SR20DET swap, after one "hell ride" in that i was sold:thumb: Now i will always own a turbo car!

I first got the "need for speed" last summer when my friend took me for a ride in his '79 Porshe 928. That thing was freakin fast. It was fully restored...it was just awesome. We got up to 120 like it was nothing.

I got bitten by the bug when I "borrowed" my dad's 2001 BMW M-series roadster while he was on vacation. **DROOL!** Not only did it look nice, but it was mad fast. People thought it was just a Z3 until they heard me pull away from a stoplight. VROOM!!! Coulda pulled even faster, but the American versions had some sorta governor on the transmission. Ohh, what a great vacation!

I don't know if you guys care about my experience, i'm just a newbie.. The first time i experienced real speed was on my cousins CBR600.. Ouch.. Those things are faster than hell.. The first time i expericened speed in a car was when i was car shopping.. I came along a 95 Gs-T and dang.. it was fast. i wanted that car so bad, but the insurance was way to much. The next time i experienced speed was on a GSXR 600, (2001 Model) It was even faster than the CBR, for anyone who has ridden one, you know what i mean. It is just scary fast. I looked down and i was doing 135, and everything was a smooth as can be.

when my firnd just turned 16 he got a 3000gt. n/a but he put intake exhaust and a chip in it.. wow was i jealous cause when i turned 16 i got my dads 92 lincoln continental....i thought i was doin- em cause it had dual exhaust jhahaha finally though i acctually got something fast cause they kid with the 3000gt's next car was a supercharged m3 and now its a 996 turbo hahaha. but ya hopefully soon i'll be able to catch up with him....

-tj

I got it from my dad's 1936 chevy coupe. It has won some shows, but in the last 8 years or so he decied to make it fast... it's got a fully built big block v-8 estimated at about 500hp, 4-speed hurst shifter, and 4.11 gears in back, plus tons of other stuff, it's fast as hell
