so here is my situation:
i have a stock 1990 eagle talon tsi awd with 91k miles on it...and $1600 with no job, (parents wont let me with school, sports, and everything else)

options:
1. do what ive wanted to from the start and wait til im 18 (aobut a year and a half) and save up for a dodge stealth during that time (my parents wont buy one for me, with my money, cuz they think its too fast of a car for me, so i cant get one til im 18, even if i win the lotto) and keep my talon as a "beater" and get my stealth to be a full on drag racer,...
OR
2. put money into the talon (no stealth for a LONG, LONG, time)
OR
3. put slight money into the talon and then wait til (end of college realistically) later to buy my stealth

I want to build up to buying a dodge viper venom 1000 from http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/hennesseyperformance/index.php (were talking late 30's or later, but this is kinda the end of the line performance wise...) and get it to 30 psi and see what numbers i can put down on that, so i figure that #1 is the best path,... but its so tempting to put down some money into a big 16, turbo back exaust, a fmic and all the goodies...but it is my daily driver....

save your money to fix your car so you'll still have a car when your 18 and if your lucky, you'll still have some money.

Spend that money on therapy. If you start now, you might be able to prevent yourself from a lifetime of blowing all your money on cars. It's a sickness.

ha very true
:p

anyways, I would stick with the Talon. They are easily modded into the 13s, you can get parts for quite cheap and like the previous person said, you don't see many drag stealths. As a matter of fact I've never seen one...

Which should make you all the more eager to be the first! :thumb: But save your money and drive the TSI. Just my opinion...

Unless the talon is a money pit on it's last legs, keep the talon. I'd make one nice track car/daily driver.

save your money. you're going to need it when you decide that living with your parents sucks.

well i took a vacation over the weekend, and ive been thinking about it the whole time,....and im thinking that maybe i should get exaust(turbo back) and a hks intake filter, and do some free mods an minimal else...it wouldnt be that expensive, and i can then save up for the stealth for maybe after i get out of college,.... ive been thinking the 3 inch system from machV by busch or something like that.... downpipe, cat back system, and high flow cat,....that would run a little less than 1300 (before tax and shipping) and i believe i would be pushing a little less than 200 whp,....but im going to need/want to change the fluids and maybe spark plugs and oil filter and some other stuff...how many people are running these mods, does it make aobut 200whp, and should i stick with maybe a 2.5 inch system to keep the exaust gas hotter through the muffler? also does the 3 inch muffler look like a rice rocket muffler, cuz i really dont like that look,... i want to be descreate with my mods,.....(aka no exterior cuz i feel thats a waste of money in most cases) if anyone can answer any of these questions, thanks

By the time you get out of college, and all the more so if you actually finish, Stealths will be such has-beens that they will no longer be of interest. If there are any left running.

Just save your money.

You will never own the fastest car. You'll never be allowed to sit in it. Deal with this harsh reality.

you dont see many drag stealths...go to 3si.org and find a bunch. Matt Monet went 10.6 or 10.8 in his. That was with a full interior. i know hte fastest fwd is in the 11s with a stripped interior. i used to own a 3000gt and one of hte biggest reasons i bought that car was actually because the 3s community is probably hte most helpful community i've come acrss among all different cars

Um, don't spend that much on an exhuast. I got a thermal r@d 3 inch turbo back (with a shop downpipe) coming in the mail for 525 shipped. I've bought 2 cars for less than 1300 bucks. I would look for used parts on the trader or in the classifieds. But if I was you, I wouldn't spend that money, cuz with no job, you'll be broke and not be able to go out with your friends.

well its not like im an idiot and just dont have a job/dont want one,.....my mom wont let me cuz she thinks it will affect my grades too much, cuz i stay at school from 7 til 7 doing sports and school....so if i want to go out with my friends she normally gives me a little money... (and also i wouldnt spend it all,..)

save you money from the money your mom gives you, btw, your previous post about getting an exhaust and such is the beggining of your obsession, you already have an AWD turbo, so why save up and pay more for a stealth if you already have a great platform (if not better) compared to the stealth
DSMs are cheaper to modify and you see great gains, just think, all the money you will spend on upgrading your twin turbo to a single (more efficient) and then trying to shed off the 4000 ( or more i think) pounds to get equal to a DSM.
Stick with the DSM, get a boost gauge, then a boost controller etc, then see if you would rather have a stealth. I personally think they are not worth modding b/c there are so many N/T 3kgts/stealths running around that would ruin your rep. Somewhat the same with dsms, but you see less N/T dsms racing than you see turbo dsms.

Anyways, im drunk and im sorry if i have some spelling errors, but i would have the same opinions if i was sober...soberer..... anyways, my (biased) obinion would be to stick with the turbo AWD you have, you can do some DIY mods without your parents noticing, but with having great gains (you can ask to have them install gauges to "keep a better eye on your car and keep it from braking down, and mention it has no performance gain, just better resale value, thats what i told my parents before i started modding my dsm) :thumb: ... Good luck on your DSM... you will most likely keep it if you see the gains from simple mods such as a boost gauge THEN a boost controller (dont do it vice versa) Enjoy :D

I see more NT dsm's trying to race than I see 3s's period.
