I am trying to remove the wheel studs and my 1gb is equiped with ABS. I have a speed sensor and the notched shield itself is blocking the back of the studs. How can I remove the studs? Has anyone ever ran into this before?

Do you now have the ABS light on or working at all?

My abs never worked, that's why I cut it. You can't use abs with out the tone wheel and afaik, you can't get the studs out with out pulling out the tone wheel. You are probably better off taking it to the dealer.

You just confirmed everything I did not want to hear. LOL

I was able to replace two front studs on my 92 GSX (abs equipped) by doing the following (Your results may vary):

1. Remove wheel, brake caliper androtor.
2. Remove the axle nut (32 mm) and cotter pin holding the hub to the axle.
3. The abs ring has 2 bolts. Remove these bolts.
4. To remove the ABS ring, you must now remove the hub. I did this by using two crowbars and prying the ring off (2 large flat head screwdrivers will work also). Be patient as this is a pressed on piece from the factory. After about 5-10 minutes I was able to remove my hub.
5. Once the Hub is removed the ABS ring comes right off the back of the hub. (Inspect wheel bearing while your in there)
6. Bang out the broken studs and replace.
7. Install everything back in reverse order. (Be sure to torque the Axle nut to spec)

I have a Texas car so rust was not an issue for me. If your car has substantial underbody rust, it may be worth taking it to a dealer or suspension shop.

Good Luck
