For the last week or two my car has been acting very strangely. At intermittent times, often right after I get on it a little bit, the car will bog real bad between 2000-3500 rpms. By bog I mean the car begins to make a low tone BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound. Sometimes it gets bad enough to where the CEL comes on (code 44) and idles down to like 700rpms (normal idle is 1000 for me). Then when I rev it up past 3500rpms the engine acts normal again and the CEL goes away. Sometimes this happens 75% of the time on the road, other times it only happens 20%. Also it only happens after the engine warms up. If I warm it up like usual it won't begin happening until I've been on the road for about 10 minutes. Also while I am revving it up to 3500 to make the problem go away it is VERY SLOW revving and feels real rough the whole way. Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks,
Jason

i have no idea, but i have the same prob. but it's everytime i get on it- i got on it and it gets a low tone and it bogs like hell but i never get a cel code- also i get the same prob you do but only at start up i start it and it idel's hella low like 600 rpms and then when trying to rev it to get it back up it sounds hella nasty and slowly rises and then boom it snaps out of it-it only does the idel thing when i drive it shut it off for like 30 mins and then go back out to drive it-it starts bogs to 600rpms and then it levels back out at 900rpms, after it is done acting up i drive it and when i punch it, it bogs down, i just put in a air/fuel guage and when i get on it -it goes to rich and then falls flat to lean so i think i have a car running lean prob.- have you done any mods lately? if you figure this out please please let me know because i have been dealing with the same prob for awhile now- there is a 5 page thread from me on it - modify the maf=bad idea check it out, there are some good idea's but we have not figured out the prob yet

the code 44 is the ignition coil/power transistor so i would start there- good luck and let me know what you find

dsms are alot better to mod cause they way they set the motor in the neon is just stupid!...first they set the intake box right above the headers, trying to get cool air and what you got is a hot air...it is somewhat more difficult to put a turbo in cause its again in the back of the motor also again you got alot of heat and would have to do alot of pipin shorter distance and less turns = more air) from the intercooler and intake dont get me wrong but there are some rally nice and fast and i mean fast neons....mike crawford, cox, and scott mohlor with the all motor neon, i would stick with dsms

also check your ecu caps and make sure they haven't started to leak. As Defbear about code 44 and ignition coil packs and leaking ecu caps, now he has a great running car after replacing the ecu.
