the Engine, tranny, drivetrain is in great condition. It runs great and has only 15,000 miles on it. It can not be fixed so I need to put the engine to good use and I don't like lancers so it's not going back in one. However I do love eclipses. I can't afford a newer lancer to put the engine in anyway. the only reason i got it is cuz it was $1000. So i need to know if it can be done. please only helpful feedback only! hell, you can put a 350 in a 280ZX, it has to be possible but i need guidance on what to do. i think it would rule to have a damn-near new EVO 270-hp 4g63 in a 95 eclipse. ragged out eclipses can be had for under $1000. It doesn't even have to run really. I always read the answer to this question and it's always saying it can't be done cuz the motor is completely different from the eclipse 4g63. given my situation also, what would you do? any help is appreciated.

well, is it possible to mount that engine in a 95-99 eclipse engine bay, and will it bolt up to a gs-t tranny? if not can you get the evo drivetrain as a whole(engine, trans, awd, front mount intercooler, brembo brakes)to fit under an eclipse.

try to mount it to a 3g eclipse, it might work with the new 4g64s

you guys wouldn't want this setup in your cars? The install couln't cost over $10,000 could it? if it's anywhere close to what I want to spend i'll be happy with it. Just like a brand new GSX with 175 horsepower. I'm thinking it would run a 13.0 or better.

I've seen those guys on monster garage make a 5.0 mustang into a lawnmower with a budget of a few thousand, I know it has to be possible. I think the end result would be inspiring.

Simply put: Can it be done? Yes. Is it worth it? No.
Youd be going though all that trouble for a 16g powered engine.

Sell it, and with the money get a built engine and transmission.

everything you have stated is possible. However, it is posts like these which indicate you are not only incapable, but have little idea what can be done. You bought a pile with no intention of building anything. No one on here is going to do it for you, so I suggest you make this worth your time and sell the parts for profit. You would be quite foolish if you didn't. Hell, I make at least $2k parting out 1g's with junk motors - that evo crap is a gold mine. Good job on the find and buying it, but your ideas are not realistic at all :thumbdown

where the hell is minden??? i'm from tensas parish 318, sell your non turbo and front clip and buy my 95 gst. i'm selling it for $2500, you can put a 6bolt in it and buy all the supporting mods you want. you are going to spend alot of money trying to put it that motor in any other car. ta :talon: lon

There's a damn good reason no one's done it - 1G and 2G DSMS already HAVE a 4G63! Why would you swap it with another that doesn't fit and is capable of the same power and reliability, mod for mod? Assuming you're referring to swapping it into your N/T, no one in their right mind would go through the hassle of doing that swap just to have a FWD car (unless you're on an unlimited budget and are building a 9sec. drag car) and making your FWD car into AWD would be yet another unrealistic conversion. I agree with everyone else, sell the parts, sell your N/T, and pick up a cheap 1G/2G AWD car.

Anything is possible, but do you have the master fabricator skills to do it? Oh yea lets not forget the materials and tools to do it. If your asking someone if it can be done then its way beyond your ability. The TV shows have hugh sponsors and unlitited knowledge and $$$ to undertake these projects. Cut your loses and sell it for profit.

Not to feed the fire here. But it would probably be easier to mount that engine in his N/T since the engine in the N/T is on the same side as his evo motor. Transferring the AWD driveline would be tough..very tough. But if you went at it FWD, you would also have to use your N/T tranny, so have it built up. Just tossin my observation out there.

Personally I'd sell it tho. :talon: :thumb:

I'd gladly take that off your hands and install it into my Mirage.

Chris

Do you all realize that the EVO's all have the engines oppisite of DSMs? So to answer your question, can it be done? Yes with a shit load of money. First off, the EVO7 is awd. Is your 95 awd? If not, you have to convert to awd. Secondly, is your 95 a/t or m/t? Something else you have to look at. Next are the half shafts (CV axles). They are not going to be the same length as your DSM. Which means unless your half shafts are the same spline# as the EVO7, they wont work. Fuel lines, cooling lines, electrical lines. They aren't going to match up unless you get a "parts only" engine harness and ECU.

Do what others have mentioned.. SELL THE ENGINE AND TRANNY for a few thousand bucks.

Either way you do your business, I hope that you prevail in your journey with it. :thumb: :thumb:

Simple swaps are heard of because they're simple. Smallblock Chevy into a Z or a Jaguar, an Olds V-8 into a Healey, Just about anything into a Jeep, Mazda rotaries into anything... it makes a sizeable list. And as my 510/240Z showed, even unlikely and complicated swaps can be done.
It's a bit easier when you only have to run a rear output to a driveline, but that's often surmounted by steering boxes, tie rods, master cylinders, etc. When you're having to get a complete front suspension to all work harmoniously with a new motor/transaxle, the challenges can be greater.
Individuality is a wonderful thing, but so is having the cash for a factory-built car and its lack of headaches.

It's your time and money, spend tham as you choose.
