today i was thinking of ways to make my greddy type s bov louder without venting. i remembered how when my rubber intercooler piping was on how quiet it was and after i upgraded to aluminum, how i could hear the air wooshing. soo i thought about how much the rubber recirculation hose was absorbing the sound of the bov...went to orchard supply with my recirulation hose in hand and matched it with a similar in shape aluminum piping (was long and bent 90 degrees at the end) the metal piping wouldnt fit snug on the bov or intake so i cut little 1 inch long sections of the rubber hose off and put it on the bov and intake and THEN put the aluminum piping on and it fits snug and looks GREAT. the bov is now at least twice as loud and has a higher cooler sounding shriek thanks to the solid aluminum and it seriously looks awesome right next to my uicp. almost as loud as venting and none of the side effects :thumb:
oh and it was 6.99 and has a beautiful mirror polish which looks the same as my uicp

yup diameter...hey does the gretty type s and stock 1g bov outlet's the same in diameter..??

what are you guys using to fasten the metal piping to the BOV and intake? i want to try this because i like the way venting into the atmosphere sounds. it makes your car sound harder. i like it when a honda tries the rev me up and i just do the BOV because they don't know what they are getting themselves into. OMG (by the way, i have the type S)

hmmm...my type s with the evo flange is in the mail right now....im gonna see what it sounds like on my stock rubber tubing....then try this..its a great idea! :thumb:

So, any more pics of this being done? How did you connect the pipe to the BOV and intake? Any pics of the part before you installed it so we know what to look for at the store? :thumb: :talon:

U gotta use 1 1/4 or 1 inch piping....if ur using the stock bov and stock rubber intake. I tried with a 1.5 inch and the rubber ends just have too much space for the rubber clamps to seal them. I was looking for 1 1/4 inch piping but they didnt' have the rubber clamps...so i gotta goto homedepot to check it out and see what they got. This sucks...but my car sounds awsome venting right now...kinda noticed it running funny but only doing this till tomorrow....peace

let us know what you used and what section you got it from and also take pics of it if you can. I'm still thinking about using pvc since I have a few pieces laying around. Just wanted to get a chrome bling bling one but dont know where to get it.

This is what i bought 3.99

I cut it with a a small saw we had laying around.

Looks great. Would have never thought of bike tube LOL, lucky it's just your little bro, if it was you big bro, he'd beat you ass LOL

i gotta go down to 1 1/4 piping if i wana have the polished look...the only problem i'm having is finding something that will connect to the bov and tube on intake. It's a working progress

well i finally got mine done cause of weather...i bouth 1.5 inch bathroom aliuminum tubing. Almost looks like the one above but longer. Took me like 20 min to cut and put in...i also did the bike tubing and works great...was a little B*(& to put in though if u have big fingers....my bov is upside down and at time my hands couldn't grasp the tubing and stretch it over the bov and the other tubing...but once on it did sound a little louder...i have a greaddy type s in the mail so we'll see how much louder that gets.

The way my BOV is positioned on the UICP i couldnt do it. There is barely enough space for the stock recirc tube. So i just wasted money.

:thumb: :talon:

i did this mod with a stock 1g and with a greddy type-s i didn't notice that much of a difference with either...i mean mabye a wee bit more wooshing but i'd say thats it definitly doesn't sound vented so don't do this thinking your going to sound vented but other then that it does look hell of alot better :p
