Hey guys, im looking for a tool chest thing on wheels, preferably with ball bearing rollers. Snap on is waay out of my price range, but Craftsman looks like they make a nice one. Anyone have any experience with them? Also is there a site or something that sells these things cheaper? Cause they are damn expensive. I dont care about name, as long as its semi-decent quality.

Those HammerHeads are nice :thumb:

Or you could try Husky but I think they might be made out of a thinner guage steel than Craftsman or Hammerhead.

The best deals are Craftsman Display model, way cheaper, but they come prescratched but hey lets face it your are going to use it and when you do you'll scratch it.

Ball Bearing is a must, the more wieght you put in them the harder they are to open....Oh wait thats the other kind.... :p

I got two one hammerhead and a craftsman industrial... Both are beefy... Compaired to the XL the Craftsman looks ugly. The industrial series looks big black and tough Ugly like tyson or something.. The XL looks like it belongs in like a NASCAR race shop and the craftsman a service center.

IF there is a used tool shop look there...

I got the craftsman that way. It is as big as the Hammer head and I talked the guy down to about 1/2 the cost of the hammerhead.... then bought the box I really wanted later.

what do you mean by used tool shop? im all for alternative ways to buy, like show models, or used.

A place that buys and sells used tools.

Like play it again sports for tools....

We got a couple places around me called RE TOOL. They buy and sell used tools and equipment. I always go in there to see if they picked up anything I need. -Matt :dsm:

I have a Snap-On one. But I'm most likely gonna sell it and get a craftsman one. Best one for the price IMO.

I was saying the husky box looked a little on the thin side.

I used to work in an auto shop and Ive seen Snap-On,Mac,Craftsman,Hammerhead,Husky
And they all do the same thing,Hold your tools. So why pay more for one than the other? get a used one that still works, try your local college for a guy that decided he didn't want to be a grease monkey and is selling all his tools, or try a pawn shop,or check your local paper,or e-bay ; hey something might be for sale near you and you wont have to ship it. Ive even seen a nice hammerhead looking box that a mechanic got at sams.

Dont spend your money on a sweat @ss box, spend it on some sweat @ss tools.

Yeah, look for my set that got stolen. It's pre-loaded and everything.
MATCO has some really good boxes, too. Check Home Depot, Lowe's, Harbor Freight and Post Tools. The one you want will tell you.

Well last night i was walking through home depot, and I just happened to look in the corner, and there was a nice Husky 5 drawer, black with diamond plating, 5 drawer ball bearing, with gas struts on top, just sitting in a pile of junk. So I went over to one of those guys and was like can I get a price on this? So he comes back and was like well it lists for 150 dollars. I told him if he could sell it for 60, Id buy it right now. So he went and talked to the manager, and I guess the manager didnt know they had it. He was happy to let it go for 60. So now, I can spend alot more money on a real nice bottom chest.
