Hey guys my problem is at w.o.t my timing goes up to 25-26*. I get 1-3 counts of knock, EGT's aabout 1450* F, boost set at 10 lbs. Mods are 8.5-1 compression ported and polished head stock cams, SBR big cast manifold, Fp red 7cm, huge spearco front mount 26 x 20 (had to custom fit this thing by cutting bumper out and latch out) custom 3" piping, maft 3 1/2" gm, delta gate external gate, custom 4" exhaust, custom 3" o2, areomotive 1000 hp big fuel pump, areomotive fpr, 1/2 inch stainless fuel lines, 770 injectors, act 2600 EGT/boost/fp gauges, pocket logger. If i missed a few thing sorry. The car pulls very hard full boost at 4000 rpm. I have the base timing set at 5*. What do u guys think would cause the timing to go so high i would feel better if it was between 18*-21* not 25*-26*. this is all on 94 octane.

Its running rich. The ECU is advancing the timing so far to try and burn more of the fuel. Give it some more air :thumb:

Do you think i should lean it out some more or just turn the boost up to 12-15 lbs? The fuel pressure is at between 38-40 psi. should i lower that a few lbs ? I'm scared i'm gonna blow the motor up with that kind of timing.

I don't see a problem with any of that. I see 27 degrees of timing on the top end with 9:1 compression and 14-15 psi on 94 octane. And I run it like that for hours on end out at the road course. EGT's run up around 875C or so, which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500F.

If it bothers you that much though... :) What are you using to adjust the air/fuel?

with all of that fuel I would crank the boost up to 18 psi and datalog a 3rd gear pull and see where your timing is at.

fuel pressure should be 43.5 hose off pressure and with hose on it should be what ever your car is vaccuming at divided by 2 and then subtract that number from 43.5.

When you start turning the boost up your timing will go down because your wont be able to be as rich. Make sure you have the correct fuel settings for your injectors so if you have 770s then is is 450/770= X and then 1-X. Deduct that percentage of fuel to zero out your injectors....good luck... turn boost up slowly.

There isn't really anything wrong with timing that high. However, the reason is that the 770cc injectors are causing you to take a lot of fuel out. This means that the ECU is seeing less airflow because of how the MAF-T works. The ECU gives you a lot of timing because it isn't seeming much airflow. You might want to look at one of the Keydiver DSM chips that can correct for the 770s w/o causing the timing to go so high, or wait until DSMlink is released for 1gs.

fuel trims are 100 low, 100 mid, and 100 high. The o2 trim at w.o.t is at 199 this is very high right? The only tuning device i have now is the maft. Right now i have the injectors set for two steps leaner or 790's. I heard that if i get the timing down to 21* i may get more power? I would think with that kind of timing the cylinder pressure would be excessive and maybe blow something? I want to run the boost at 26 lbs on the track with c16. With 26* of timing and 26 lbs of boost from a FP RED it could hurt it right? I also want to say thanks for all the help you guys are great :thumb:

i raised the boost to 15 lbs. the timing went down to 21-23* at w.o.t. and the car is fast as shit! thanks for all the help guys.

YOu can keep turning up the boost little by little and make sure you watch the timing and EGT's. When you see about 19 deg of timming that should be really good and your egt's about 1600. :thumb:
