Ok, My SAFC is annoying the piss out of me with the changing weather in Wisconsin. Want better tune with stand alone. Being auto, is one better than the other. Just trying to get opinions. What do some of you guys run?

just trying to pass the time here in winter...
 
If you wanna sell it, lemme know :D Running 450's on my auto ECU can't be all that good for the car.
 
I run DSMLink and I love it. AEM is a full stand alone ECU so it will have the maximum tunability, but the DSMLink is VERY superior to any piggyback in many ways. DSMLink is versatile enough for 90% of the people out there.
 
Does the AEM have a model that now works in an A/T car? I remember that the first units did not have the proper interfaces for the TCU. I would check with AEM before you get to far down that path.

DSMLink is the way to go IMHO.

I run dsmlink it is absolutly b-e-a-utiful. Definently get it

OH, and I've been having the same issue even though I run DSMLink. Although I did just install a cold air setup to seperate my intake from the hotness in my engine bay. I think that really f***ed up my tuning. Still trying to tune in my LTFT's ;) :thumb:
 
What are the plans for your car? Unless your going to be an all out drag racer then DSMlink should be just fine for your needs.
DSMlink is a great setup. Its very nice being able to run it off of a palm pilot and not lugging a laptop around in your car.
 
DSM link seems to be the best deal for price and tunability. As for my SAFC II it will most likely be for sale withing a couple of months. I had a custom fiber glass mount that clicks into the center counsel holding the screen where the ashtray and cupholder are. I will put them up in the for sale next Feb. probably. Unless you want it just PM me so I'll have your email for when I'm ready to sell. I can post pics too if your curious.
 
DSMLink is definitely the way to go with an A/T and now for the 1Gs as well.
There was one member on Tuners that did successfully use AEM, his name was BMPracing. I forgot what he did to get it to work, but I know it included having a complete standalone TCU like the one IPT sells.

DSMLink gives you the power of a stand alone with the ease and useability of a piggyback. It is by no means a piggyback, but the user interface is very easy to use. For the price, and the fact that you don't need a separate device to control the AT, I would go with DSMLink for certain!
 
For ease of use DSMlink is the way to go. If you have a place near you that can tune the AEM EMS then in reality it is far better, but before putting it in your automatic you have to get some info from AEM or someone who has done it as there is a few things you need to do. If you just plug it in it will fry the EMS unit because the wiring is slightly different since it is made for a manual. The cool thing about the EMS is you can control and monitor boost and basically control everything. You can also run no MAS using speed density similar to 1G guys running a VPC. So if you are in California where you can have an AEM EMS tuner handy I would say go for it. If not go with the dsmlink as it is very simple to use and retaines timing through shifts on automatics!
