I'd imagine all those ribs on the inside would hurt flow.
I agree. It would work, but I wouldnt recommend it. You tipically want your airflow to be the least restrictive as possible and those ribs arent going to let air pass by smoothly. That piping would work, but I would only use it temporily. Just get some mandrel pipes, and some motivation and do it the right way. :thumb:

I was also thinking I could avoid some cutting into the frame with this piping being flexible. I guess I will use it temporarily, just to get this thing on the car and raise my boost. I'll save the mandrel bends for the spring time, and maybe even get them powdercoated too.

Not a good idea unless you want something that leaks. That tubing won't seal or hold any pressure. The joints are sections of tubing lapped over. No seal.

You'd be better off trying to use some PVC.

I would definately do it right the first time, I don't think you would be happy with that after it was all done.

do you have your stock exhaust laying around? I've made intercooler pipes out of the stock exhaust before..

LOL ! and here i didnt think anyone could come up with somthing more ghetto then i/c piping made out of PVC ! (in this case i think PVC would be better.. at least its smooth on the inside )

There are some cars that come with pretty good bends on their stock exhausts.. you can find good bends with even diameters on 98+ dodge ram trucks and on alot of other v8 equipped vehicles. Alot are 2.5" and perfect for ic pipes. New tahoes/denalis come stock with a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, and one part has a perfect bend for a dsm downpipe. Just go to an exhaust shop and check out their dumpsters... they usually throw away the stock exhausts they cut off, so you can just grab them out of the dumpster.. ;)

Not only do they throw away old exhaust parts, but they throw away all of the "mistakes". I remember when my dad got a new 2.5" exhaust on his 67 Camaro custom made, the was standing underneath the car when we went to check out the progress and there were a dozen bends laying on the ground that didn't work out for him! The only problem you might have is that they are crush bent or the diameter isn't consistant throughout the radius. This makes it more difficult when you need to do any compound curves. When it comes down to it Mandrel bends are the best way to go and anymore they are getting more and more reasonable. I got all of my IC/exhaust bends through these guys: www.magnunforce.com but now I see that Road Race is offering mandrel bends without the aluminized coating for pretty cheap. These are good for intercooler pipes because you don't need a super thick wall and as long as you paint them you shouldn't have any rust problems. Do it once and do it right because hacking it up will be a waste of time and money and if you use the stuff you mentioned you will more than likely have more leaks then you could ever imagine. I know that there is a tubing available on the market that is a rubber based tubing that some people used for their IC pipes. Do a search.

That's pretty cool. Anyone know how much pressure that'll hold before you blow the coating out of the seams? Now if we could figure out how to coat the inside easily to make it smooth!?

That spurs some ideas......

not to be stupid but this is the stupidest thing ive ever seen.. be a man, if you lazy buy some wire mach up where your tubeing is going to go and go to a local exh shop and have them bend some crap up for you.

Okay, okay, I'll get some dang mandrel bends. Jeez, a guy asks for an opinion and gets hit with bricks instead. ;)

Thanks guys, for you input. If anyone is stupid enough to try using that flex tube after this thread, please let me know how it worked out. :D

Sorry to get off topic, but miteclgst I am not a big fan of the blitz front, but your car is looks great. What color is that? :thumb:
