I'm redoing my car audio setup and was wondering if you guys could recomend a good 4 channel amp.

Up front I will have a set of Focal 165 K2P (RMS 100 WATTS, I think)
In the rear I already have a set of Infinity kappa 693.5i (RMS 110 WATTS)

I was looking at the infinity's Reference 7540a (RMS 111 WATTS x 4 @ 4 ohms)

Is that a good amp for my set up or would you guys recomend something better?

My budget for the amp is $500.00

I have an Alpine CDA-9811 Deck that I will be replacing with something better in about a month.

I'm looking for clean hi-fi sound instead of a loud system. And I will most likely hava a profesional installer do the job.

I'm not going to get a subwoofer/amp combo at this time. I will get that when I'm 100% satisfied with the main speakers and multi channel amp.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Miguel

That infinity amp is a great one for the price, ive installed quite a few of them and ive been very impressed

Glad to hear that. Unless I find something better than that one in the next 2 weeks, I think I'm going to get it. Thanks for replying.

Boston Accoustics has some nice sounding amps too... very very musical IMO

If you're looking to be happy with your front stage, ditch your rear fill and buy the good 4 chan amp. Use the front channels on your front stage, and when you're happy, buy a small 10" low power sub to bridge on the rear channels of the amp.

My advise to you would be to go to a shop and listen to diff. amps on your speakers with an Alpine deck. You will notice that the deck makes to K2Ps sound like they have too much midrange. Try to find an amp that is smooth and flat sounding. Or you could just buy whatever you think sounds the best so you will be happy. Good luck.
