Really there is SO much more but I dont have the time to sit here and figure out my favorites because I dont really have a favorite band. I like a broad range of music. If it plays on the radio though, it has to actually be good or I wont listen to it. I dont listen to the radio or much mainstream music because half of it is manufactured by the record complanies. Most new music makes me sad because it sucks so bad. :thumbdown

but you gotta admit.... some of those "crappy" rap songs are great club songs. girls dance like shit to that stuff... i like the old stuff to. even the ones about killing people and money cause youknow what?thats life. its hard to relate to alot of the stuff some (like nas. (old stuff)) but i cant ignore his words. good music is good music. doesnt matter if it comes in heavy metal (i cant take) or classical (i do like). anyways.... a really good bass rap song is mobb deep...damn i forgot the name of the song.. it goes like "you betta realiz, we doin dis till the day we die, servival of the fit, only the strong servive" it was like number 13 on that cd... sorry i cant really help...LOL.... any body know the song im talkin about?

I heard a quote once, it goes:

"Just because it's popular doesn't necessarily mean it's good."

exactly, anyway for people who want good beats, like real beats with depth and originality then you all got to pick up JMT's(jedi mind tricks) new album "legacy of blood" some of the craziest beats I have ever heard soemone rap over. Ridiculous talent they have.

Anyone mention Blackalicous yet? Theyre the ONLY rap group I listen to, and Im mainly a rock guy. :thumb: Very deep rhymes and lyrics, and good "beats"
true true! almost forgot about him. havent hurd any of his music for over a year (was living in japan)
oh and leet. i might not have explained my self clearly. those club songs, are club songs. its not the kind of music one might find deep. but even those "crappy, watered down mcs" songs none the less have phat beats that are fun to dance to. even tho mcing has fallen in quality with alot of the main stream stuff right now but it has become the time of the dj. the bling bling does get old tho. i think this bling bling will pass with time tho. and the true artists will prevail. i wasnt part of the "rock n roll age" (im 20) so i wouldnt know but didnt this kind of exploitation happen to rock and to all types of music that are in trend? i think the next trend (if not already very strong) is going to be house. sorry, totaly got off the subject....
oh yeah that dead prez hip hop has a stupid amount of bass!!! :thumb:

Heaven only knowwwwwssss, cuz i dont understand, wont you tell me please (tell me) whats the masta plan, spent so many days, sitting on a cloud, heaven only knows,so ill just move the crowd..

####s yes man..The T dot has alot of great emcees and K-os is one that is very slept on along with kardinal..

RYU- the song is called survival of the fittest and its off of infamous i think..Im not sure but thats the name..

Whoever said royce da 5'9 also gets a big thumbs up..VERY VERY VERY intelligent emcee that is also highly slept on..Rock city had alotttt of tight songs on there including life as being one of the illest along with boom, nickel nine as being some of the tightest beats on there..

Executioners have a new video out also to whoever mentioned them..The song is nice..A remake from an old school beat but they did it nicely with black thought.. ;)

I have to disagree with you..Emcee'n hasnt fallen, peoples ability to look outside of the box has fallen..There has been this trend thats been going on for years that, whatever is played on mtv or makes it to mtv is the stuff thats going to be the most popular regardless of how well the song is or not..And people have a prethought misconception of :this has got to be that baddest group,or rapper because theyre on mtv" and in that sense people dont look very far beyond the tv..Theyre are ALOT of great emcees out there that are'nt on mtv but are being noticed..MF Doom, aesop rock, ion self are just a few to name that arent on tv but are very skilled and rocking the underground..

dude. like i said in my post. "main stream". i know of the underground rap as you talk about .now i dont know of the artists you named and i dont get to here underground stuff cause im not really a die hard rap guy. never said they were good if they get on mtv. but this "trend" of people thinking that whats on mtv is the best, isnt so bad. that trend is the very thing that lead me to other underground music. its like a gateway drug. except its music. i think its nice to be able to put a universal taste on some music. it gives others a chance to hear it. now if it can touch a few people. maybe it will lead to the search for "true music".. one that is pleasing not only to the ears, but too the soul. peace. thats "peace" in the way it should be said. Personally I don't like commercial rap much at all, I also think many of those artist are ruining rap. There are a few commercial artist I like to listen to every once in awhile, but the majority of commercial rap artist give rap a bad name to "outsiders".Personally I think Talib Kweli is the definition of a talented rap artist, in which he should be making more money than the likes of Lil' Jon, that's if checks were based on pure artist skill.Kanye West is another good example of a good artist and he is starting to show the commercial side of the game what underground rap is all about.I really love his Jesus Walks song, especially the remix of that.Talibs new album is close to a masterpiece IMO.Mos Def is also a good rap artist, I like his music as well.I really wish artist like the ones I mentioned were given the chance to truely let their skills shine. It would also be cool if fans of other genres would check out the more lyrical and true emcees in raps underground before passing judgement on the whole aspect of rap in which they don't know much of.

My 2 cents.
