I think you should just go w/snakeeyes. i think those look so bad ass

I was going to ask about this conversion. I came across a 91 Laser the other day with the pop ups pulled out and projection lights in place. When I asked the girl driving it where she got them she said she bought it that way. I have surfed for 3 days trying to find these with no luck. Has anyone else seen them or know where to get them.

Just look in the fuse box on the passenger side and look at the bottom row of fuses and it should be the third from the left. Just yank it and boom no more pop ups. It's pimp but kills visibility and I almost feel like a ricer.

Thanks for the info appreciate it. Let me try and explain in more detail what it was I saw. The pop assembly and door covers were totally removed along with the lights leaving and open holes on both sides to fill. The kit that was on this car had a fiberglass insert installed replacing the original headlights assembly. You then could install projection lights in the new FG unit. Hope this might clear up what Im looking for.

you need the front hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, and corner lights. you also need to fab some brackets from a 92 so the headlight can be properly mounted, and remove the 90-91 front brackets. the inner turn signal/running light wn't matter cuz it'll still work just won't be on a dim running light mode like all real 92-94s.

This is a fairly straight forward swap in most aspects. You do need to fabricate some type of mount for the new lights but that is easy to make from the mounts on the donor car. As far as the wiring goes. The amount of lights is different from the g1a and the g1b. To solve this you just need to figure out which set of wires you need more of and do some splicing for the same lights. But I have done 2 of these swaps so far and the first took approx 4 hours and 2nd took approx 90 mins. Even those times arnt very good. If anyone has questions let me know

i really hate my pop up headlights so i was wondering if i could switch them to 92-94 style or something like the 300zx or suttin else?

thanks :dsm:

The '92-'94 conversion can be done by swapping parts. Swapping in the '300zx' style headlights, or anyother headlights is not a simple process like Defiant mentioned...

get a 92-94 hood and some old grand prix headlights and mount them behind the lenes i had that on my laser til i shoved my nose up someones tailpipe  but it worked pretty well i also got some of them cheapo blaser foglight things at advanced and put 100w bulbs in em. I miss that car

The pop-ups are what make a 1Ga look cool dude...

Is this what you are trying to do? Make the lights shine through the lens?

Sylvania has a sale on their Xenarc auxiliary HID low beam kit. Installs like fogs or driving lights. The kit is on their online store for a little over $200. I suppose you could use that as your low beam and not use your pop ups.

So far, there are no conversion kits for the popups. Someone is supposedly working on one but have not seen any sort of a progress report on it. It may very well have fizzled.

Only drive when the sun's up, and avoid tunnels.

If you're asking about "snake eyes" or "sleepy eyes" where the lights either don't come all the way up, or only partway up, you might try a search for those topics in their exhaustive detail. And _then_ stay out of the dark.

Lots of posts on this topic in the past (search). It can be done. You just have to swap the entire front end from a 1Gb.

headlights, the headlight connector (the wires are diffrent colors, but do the same things) corner lights, fenders, bumper and hood. has been done and is not THAT incredibly hard. just some work and time :thumb:

The 92-94 conversion is not done by just swapping parts. the hood is the only thing that will bolt up with no modification. Im in the process of doing this mod myself and I bit off more than I can chew. I will be making a How-To on this. Besides basic hand tools, you will need a spotweld cutter, drill and some basic wiring knowledge for the headlights. The only thing that would bolt up is if you changed out the core support, then it would be ok. I used the 90 core support which requires hole drilling, spotweld cutting...grinding..etc etc.

sorry, but yes it is

wrong, the bumper and fenders bolt directly on as well with no modification

Yes you will have to rewire the headlights, but its a matter of splicing a new connector on.

what?

i did a 1ga to 1gb conversion in a few hours. im not sure why you are running into so much trouble.

couldn't you just lock them in the down position then they will just go through the other lenses...? I know I accidentally knocked my friends lasers flip ups off the rod or whatever, and he turned a red knob and he could lock them up or down. Just a thought...

dude, there was alot off stuff that had to be removed..plus the area where the hood latch is, holes had to be drilled for the bumper cover support.. the bracket on the side that bolts up to the headlight assembly had to be welded, riveted or bolted. My car is a 90 Eclipse, EARLY 90, made in march of 90. They may have changed some in late 90 or 91.

1. As far as swapping the wiring... are they the same color code?

2. Did the headlights actually bolt in? or did they require drilling?

you could and this is what i plan on doing. but the prob is that the stock lights really are not strong enought to shine through 2 more layers of plastic. so i am doing a headlight mod that i saw on dsm.org it involves a h4 housing and a higher wattage bulb. also i don't think that the 300zx lights would look good on a 1g b/c of the lenses in the front. rx-7s that have it have the bumper infront of the lights. also the same with mr2s.
