Has anybody installed a blitz FATT DC turbo timer?

I just intsalled mine today and I am having trouble with it. I bought the harness with it. I plugged the harness into the starter coupler as the directions said. I connected all the plugs to the correct plugs. Their is a white female connecter that is just hanging and I have no idea what its for. The directions don't have any instructions for this white connecter. So I didn't contected it to anything.

Anyway, I plugged the display remote to the control module and grounded all the grounds. I checked them with a test light to see if it was a good ground and it is. Their is a purple wire that is to be either conntected to a ground wire from the parking brake wire or just grounded, but it's has to have a ground signal at all times. So, I ground the wire to a bolt that didn't have any paint on it or anything. I check the ground and it was good.

With everything connected and ready to go I tested the Turbo Timer. The turbo timer turned on fine and I set it to the manual setting. I started the car and let it idle for a while then shut off the car and pulled out the key. The damn turbo timer turned off. I even took my car for a ride to see if that was it. And the turbo timer shut off when I pulled out the key.

The directions said if the purple wire isn't grounded correctly the turbo timer will shut off when the key is taken out. So, I tried grounding to a different place and the same thing happend.

The only thing I didn't try is gounding it to the brake ground. I'm not sure where it is? Is it that green wire that is connected to the hand brake? I was too pissed off and quit for today. Any HELP would be greatly apprecitated!

Thanks guys,

DanE

Sorry for the long explanation.

hehe.. my Greddy did the same thing, so I completely rewired it and it fixed the probelm.. the wire on the parking break is at the base of the break, you have to take out the center console to get to it.. I do believe its green if I recall

Did you have a harness when you first did you T.T.? The green wire I was taking about is at the base of the parking brake. You can see alittle bit of it from the car. Is that the one your taking about. I couldn't tap into the wire at that time because it was going to get dark soon. I'll have to rip out the center console and see what I can find.:D Thanks for the help. If anybody has any other ideas it would be helpfull.

I'll be working on it this weekend comeing up.

well today, im going to install my Blitz DTT...if I have any problems, or see what you're talkin about...i'll post immediately. take it easy

JD

Awsome! Let me know how it goes. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did.

on step 9 of the install for a FATT or DTT blitz....connecting the vaccuum tube to a source behind the throttle body....which source did you connect it to, would you happen to have any pics?...juss wanted to clarify this step...take it easy

JD

You are installing a TT, why do you need vacuum tube for? LOL...

I installed a FATT, so I don't have a boost guage with my T.T. Sorry.

DanE

i installed a fatt last november
i havent had a problem yet with it but i connected the purple line to the e-brake. im not sure about that white coupler i forget where it goes if it goes anywhere. are you runnin your air conditioner? or have somthin pullin electricity. it will kick it off. keep tryin ill check my wires again for ya.

I'll have to connect the purple wire to the E brake and see if that works. My A/C went bad a couple weeks ago. I'll probably be ripping that out. Less weight. I'll never post again at DSMtalk. You guys are cool:cool: Thanks for all the help.

yea i got a boost gauge on mine's...i dunno i guess ill figure it out...anyway -- the purple wire to the hand brake was no problem...the total install for me took about an hour and change. Then i was tryin to figure out where the vacuum tube goes...but im sure somebody knows....rite now my turbo timer is workin perfectly, i juss can't auto time it.....i can only manual time it, etc.

P.S.: JW, my TT is a lil different than most.

I guess that's where my problem with my T.T. I have to connect the purple wire to the brake wire instead of grounding it somewhere.

DanE

well all i did....is i have the control module rite next to the hand brake under the console....im modded my cup holders so i can fit it down there cause the 3-pin to 4pin wire isn't too long....then i simple spliced the purple wire....and popped open the wire tap....stock the spliced purple wire into a lil hole in the metal part inside the female end of the green wire (wire tap)...then simple stuck the male end of the green wire (wire tap) back in to hold the purple wire in place...now simply...my TT can read the parking brake signal...it mite be diff for 1g's?

good luck

before you go ripping out your a/c... if it ran out of coolant you could always go fill it ^^; and do you know how much work it is to put it back in when you feel hot? LOL just something to think about

i did my FATT a month ago. i just grounded the purple wire cause i didn't have a wire tap that would fit the e-brake wire. and it works fine. so i don't think that's it, but you can try. it may be either the power issue (ie AC or something like that) or your unti may be f-ed up. you never know.
good luck.

while on the subject: the auto setting seems to suck on the FATT. those of you who run on manual settings: how long do you normally set the TT to run for? let's say for average driving?

my greddy does the exact same thing. you pull the key out and the timer turns off also. try this, turn the ignition to *ON* but dont start the car. then take the key out. i bet the timer stays on and the counts down:mad: ive been fighting this thing for months.

I think most people set thier's to 5 minutes.....

I have mine at only 3 minutes.... but then again.. the last half of my drive is usually city driving...

i have the turbo timer and i guess all the wires and harnesses. Tell me what to do from here. I am new at this so someone needs to give me step by step instructions to help. thanks
