hey guys, have any of you installed a pulley set? so far i've successfully replaced the water pump, power steering and crank.

having trouble with removing the alternator pulley. any tips or tricks? i'd like to avoid removing the alternator from the car. i see fins inside the alternator and was thinking about using a small screwdriver for leverage. however, i'm worried i may break the alternator or damage a fin. any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Autozone or Pep Boys usually has the parts numbers on hand. Just tell them that you need an alternator belt and a power steering belt for your car.

I have a different underdrive pulley, but I got 1/4" shorter belts the first time. But for some reason when I just replaced the alternator belt again, only a stock size belt would fit.

I've heard the underdrive pullys give u some HP and i was wondering if they make them for the 1.8l model? if any one knows let me know. Or if anyone knows if there is anything else ican do besides exhaust and intake?

So far I have the Underdrive Crank Pulley, but I got a Unorthadox Water Pump Pulley in the mail. I havent a clue on how to get the stock pulley's off the alternator and power steering pump, but Id like to know also. Whats the tourqe numbers when installing my water pump pulley do you know? I should use lock-tite also right?

they did make them for the 1.8, but they are hard to find know because alot of places stopped stocking them for some reason. i would look on ebay and places like that for one.

there are alot of things u can do but, it depends how much u wanna get into it. porting and polishing the head. ive heard porting and polishing is a great upgrade. porting and polishing intake and exhaust manifold, maybe even get a header fabed. boreing the block, decking the head for higher compression is even a easy hp gain, stronger pistons, taking the balance shafts out is great also, and nitrious. these are just some at the top of my head, i'm sure theres tons more. hope this helps ;)

Your best bet is to pull the altenator to swap pulleys. The you can use an impact wrench. If you do it on the car, make damn sure you get the pulley tight. Ive seen an altenator pulley come off from not being tight enough and the outcome was not good.

on a 2g the manual says all you need is 8ft #s believe it or not. i'm not sure about the loctite. do you know otherwise?

would like to avoid pulling the alternator but it sounds like i may have to. appreciate the info.

your going to have fun with that water pump pulley..what a pain in the a$$ that was. 8#'s of torque on a 2G for water pump pulley. power steering was easy to remove...i'm just having some minor problems with the alternator pulley.

would someone help me out any one with and underdrive pulley whould u be able to tell me what size or what belts to get with the new pulley because my obx underdrive pulley didnt come with the size belts i need to get

Ok I herd from a friend who own's dsm, than underdrive pulleys can make you at bigger risk for crankwalk? Is this true because Im going to be looking at a 98gst with a some mods and he has a act 2100 clutch and underdrive pulleys? he just installed them recentley. If this is true should I put the stock ones back on?

In my opionin yes it will incrase chances of CW yes it might take 5 years but why risk it for like 5 HP

After reading all that I rather not take the chane. The guy just put them on not to long ago so I will put the stock ones back on just to be safe!

I have had a full-set underdrive pulleys from www.dsm-performance.com for over 2 years.

No ill effects except when my lights are on the idle is affected a tiny bit because of the extra draw.

Also You can't install a giant stereo system.

I have just installed an Unorthodox Racing Underdrive pulley. I have seen the hp differences on the dyno but when I start the car it does not crank as easily as with the OEM crank pulley. Is this normal? Will I just have to put up with it?

Check to make sure you have your belt tight enough.. but not Too tight.
Most people don't recommend unortho pulleys
