I put my battery in the trunk via 2 gauge wire. then I hooked up the 2 gauge main power wire to a 140 amp circuit breaker and then I hooked up the other end of the breaker to another piece of 2 gauge wire which in turn is connected to all of the wires that were connected to the positive terminal when the battery was in its original location. the battery is in the trunk in a alum box which is vented. the battery is an optima red-top. the ground for the battery is 2 4 gauge wires each indepently grounded to the chassis of the car in the spare tire well. I wire-wheeled the paint off before I connected the grounds. My question is: is 140amp breaker too much? I'm thinking maybe I need a 100 amp? I dont care about nhra rules or anything so thats why I did not install an external cut-off switch.
and 2nd, do my connections sound sufficient?I tihnk i'll have to ground the engine with a ground kit once I get everything done. thanks in advance for any help.
