You def want to read the evo forums, lots of clutch issues. I actually went the opposite, I have a 2001 S4 (for sale, since it gets stolen every damn month in NJ) and now have a 92 talon. Much happier with the talon, even though I have to get it to start still. I bought it used, with a ton of mods from a friend. Either way, you may want to wait and get the Evo MR if you really want an Evo (that car is sick, with beefier trans, ligheter, etc...).

I had the same delimma for a long time, same as you, since I was getting rid of the S4, what should I get (Evo, Sti, 350Z, M3, etc...). I didn't feel like spending a ton of money on a new car just to void the crappy warrenty immediately. LOL (which I have done for years) I ended up back with the 92 talon, being the first car I ever bought was a 91 talon. LOL. Anyway good luck.

wow...this was a while ago.

I changed.

I decided that I didn't want to have to work and support 900 dollars on a car when I go to college. I'm currently looking for an S2000 as my car is already sold. I need something in then 18500-19500 range so that work wont be too cumbersome.

Besides I was looking around at Evos...spent a lot of time working with my local dealer, then, when I was ready and could by soon, they were trying to screw with me...so I just left...dealers piss me off...they think they could take advantage of me because I'm young...I really should have my dad come with me or something, but ehh...

I'll have fun with the S2k, everybody that owns them says they are really fun cars...and they look like it too, I'll post pics when I get it. :thumb:

I didn't see anything else so I figured I would post about the MR, because if you are going to get an Evo that is the one you want.

Yeah I got the same crap when I tried to test drive an Evo or Sti, they were like unless you are going to buy it you cannot drive it. So I really didn't understand how they actually thought I would buy a car without compared and driving them.

The S2K is a fun car, the car does handle very well, especially when its setup properly.

Good luck.

LOL...I didn't expect you to know that I changed and decided on the s2k ;)

My dealer actually let me drive the Evo, there was one there with quite a few miles on it because it was driven between dealers in a dealer trade. They were just trying to tell me that I cant get a loan because I'm to young...when I have an Excellent job background maintaining jobs for long periods of time, I also do have some credit, while it isn't a lot...it is all good credit.

then they said I could get a loan but the rate would be like 15% and then they couldn't give me a deal on the car...it would be 600 a month. I told them that I wasn't going to do anything like that, I told them before I needed the payments below 350 a month (I was putting 12-13k down on the car)...they were just ass holes trying to take advantage of me...I said if they couldn't give me the deal I needed I wouldn't do business with them and basically walked out...

errr, waste of a credit app

Yeah I got the same crap, cause I am 29. But I guess since I look young they tried to F with me also. Oh well, I don't understand how when I pull up in an S4, tell them I would trade the S4 in for the Evo or Sti (if I had decided after driving it) they still didn't think I had the money or was serious.

Oh well they lost and I gained with the DSM.

S2000s are decent cars, always wanted one till I drove the C5. Hey why not get a C5? With the C6 coming out, Vette owners are scrambling to get rid of their garage queens in favor of a machine that has 50bhp more. Some GM dealers are even giving $12,000 off a new C5 OMG

Goodluck on your decision Eric, plan a cruise when you get your car. :thumb:

I thought about the C5...it was actually a big contender at one point...but I don't think it'd would fit me, if you know what I mean... I want something nimble, and something more for handling...I know the S2000 fits that.

I remember last year when I went to AutoX's...STOCK S2k's would be getting similar times to me...they were stock...I was making 150 ft lbs. more torque and almost 100 hp more then them...yet they could still keep up.

I'll be sure to try and put a meet together after I get the car, and before I leave to AZ
