Well, my car's wiper arm's are starting to look well... not like new. How do I take them off? I heard they pull straight out, I just want to check before I go break something. So do they pull straight out? If not, how do they come out?

im not positive, but i do recall they have a plastic cap, then pull that off with flat head, then 10MM to remove, then gank off. im not sure, i need to do it within the next couple days.

you are correct - remove the 10mm bolt under the plastic cover and pull straight off.

Is your plan to repaint them? If so, you can leave them on. Take the wiper blade off. Get some newspapers and poke the wiper arm through it. Lay the wiper arm back down with the newspaper under it and spray away. The newspaper will keep the paint off the glass and cowl.

AWDPetmitsus' method would work well if you were brushing the paint on. Unless you cover the entire car, you will get all sorts of overspray.

Take the arm off and do it right. If you take it off you can also get to all the spots that you wouldn't be able to if it was left on.

Meguiar's used to make this stuff called "Back to Black" that I used on my wipers and window trim. If they still make it, stock up. Leave the wipers on the car, dab a bit on a rag (dont use a fluffy towel, the lint will stick horribly) and wipe on.

Isn't the back to black for vynal/plastic parts?

Supposedly, but it works better on wipers than spray paint. Just has to be reapplied like twice a year or so.

1 bolt, Take it off and pull, Then spray paint the arms. Its not that hard.

You forgot "wd-40 the rusty ass bolt, get bitched at by wife for painting the sidewalk, and buy paint thinner to get wind-blown overspray off hands." Just trying to help. :D

i guess some of us have more than DSM in common :p

Well I couldn't get the wipers off so I covered half my car with newspaper, and built a mini paintbooth around each wiper with carboard. Now, there is no over spray and my wipers look like new!
