I seemed to have messed up my e brake cable on my 90 talon. When i removed the center consol to see that the shorter e brake cable is intact but the longer one i can pull pretty far out of its tunnel untill it stops.... then it seems like it wont come out anymore. I thought i broke the e brake b/c when i lift my ebrake up it feels sooooooooo lose like its pulling nothing. Is there a fix? Could it have fell off at the brake its self or actually broke?

Thanks

I don't know anything about short e-brake cables, but under the middle console there is a connector that holds two cables that go to each rear brake. My e-brake was also extremely loose so I decided to chek it out. My passenger cable would not release itself so I am going to find a used one from a local junkyard. The problem seems to be that there was a kink at one time in the cable and blocked the tubing the cable runs through, not allowing the cable to respond at all to the pulls from the e-brake. I seriously doubt yours fell off the brake itself, and I've never heard of anyone's cable just breaking. Hope this helps some.

It could of done one or the other or both. I have had them break, and just come off. The reason that they will fall off is because the caliper will freeze up when you pull the cable, and then when you release the cable, it will come out of the pivot arm, unless the keeper is still in there. They are common to break right at the end of the cable where it conects to the caliper also.
I would suggest pulling off the tires and inspecting the cables and see if they move when you have someone pull the e-brake lever. Also, while your under there, you should spray the lever(where the spring is) with some break-away or such. If they both still work and and seem to be moving freely, then you could adjust the cables under the counsel.
