I am working on my 90 talon tsi, and I put it up on jackstands to take the wheels off to work on the brakes. 3 of the wheels came of with some wiggling/shaking, but the passenger side rear wheel seems to be rusted on solid. I tried banging on rim with a rubber mallet, shaking the wheel, spraying wd-40 on the joint between the rim and the hub, but the wheel won't budge. Anyone have any Ideas on how i can get this off? Thanks

yep ... step back about 10 feet... get a real good running start... jump mid air and do a bruce lee dragon kick onto the top of the wheel.

that usually gets it off :D and yes, i'm being serious
 
i'd heard about the trick of driving it around, but unfortunately the engine doesn't run, and due to the almost complete lack of brakes even pushing it around can get a little dangerous. Anyone have any Ideas on how to get the wheel off when the car can't really move

Wrap a towel around the wheel from front to back through a spoke. Take a large sledge hammer and get a few good hits. The problem with a rubber mallet is leverage and power that you can give it. A longer handled hammer with a towel to protect the rim will get it loose. Trust me, I have helped out on several cars by using that method. Be careful!
 
I had the same problem. Get behind the wheel and give it a good kick.. make sure you have those jack stands secure though, wouldn't want the car to fall on you.

That worked for one of my wheels, the other one I hit relentlessly from the back with a two foot breaker bar before it popped off.

Remember, aim for the tire and not the rim. :thumb:
 
This is what I did:

With the vehicle raised enough to get the wheel off of the ground and the lug nuts off, take a large thick board(I used a 2" by 8"). put it up against the side of the wheel with the largest face outwards. Next take a large hammer(I used the blunt end of an axe) and make one large swing. Worked for me.
 
Maybe i missing the obvious or this is more dangerous then i thought but I had this same probelm and the solution was so easy.

I put on three of the five lugnuts on so they were very loose.
Get car on the ground and if they still dont come off:
Put it in nuetral and roll it just a foot or two in each direction.
This worked for me. Maybe i left 4 lugs on but whatever, seems okay though
not responsible for any death this may cause. Also soaked it in PB blaster
the night before. Good luck
 
grab one spoke with left hand with right hand make fist and say (you little son of a) then hit it as hard as you can
