This is a VERY common question and here is the best explanation with pictures and diagrams I’ve run across to help ensure anyone can fully understand how the internal and external wastegates work.
Internal vs external wastegates
Old thread but I think this is an import topic with some recent developments.
I personally prefer an external wastegate as they are able to flow much better than internal wastegates. For oem turbo (being it already has the internal wastegate) a simple port and aftermarket wastegate actuator (2...
Anyone else here into RWD and or drifting? I grew up in MT always sliding in the snow/dirt in RWD, AWD and must say I do love me some sliding around regardless of car/surface it’s always a fun time. Here’s a little video of a close friend I showed the light of drifting to and he ended up...
Nice one, the ign1a coils are great and stupid strong spark! I went r35 coils just to keep it simpler no plug wires and little lower profile sitting on top of the engine.Enjoy that strong spark with your new setup!

You would likely get more interactions if you post updates directly to this thread so people in this thread can see your build and comment right here vs following the link then coming back to...
Absolutely love this retro racer build, that is going to be one cool/unique car when she's all finished up. Can't wait to see her in action, haha gonna look pretty funny in a GOOD way doing AWD burnouts in that old colt!
You might consider copy and pasting all your updates for the build from your profile into this thread. I think you'll get a lot more feedback and likely help others working on a similar build.
MMM love the re zinc'd hardware, that is hands down one of my favorite resto mods! Just makes working with everything so much smoother.Love the build but i miss the enkei RPF1's (haha i'm a long time fan of the RPF1's. After putting those wheels through more abuse than any wheel should be...

Yes kit works great, i have an AEM ecu in the car so i also got to go direct fire with the R35 cop conversion.
My stock coils had finally pooped out, i had a few good years at 22psi with stock coils/plugs gapped to 0.019" but as time went the stock coils just couldn't keep up anymore and i...
As i said in my post i have the V.E. COP kit on my VR4 galant. I'm one of the ECU tuners for Brewed Motorsports and Brewed is a dealer for Velocity Element who makes the r35 COP kit i'm running on my gallant.
