Little update: so I ran into a issue I where the piston cooling nozzles backed themselves out and two case completely out. Lucky for me, no real damage other than a little nick in the crank. Thank my lucky stars I didn’t have my bottom end ripped apart. Can’t afford another $2500 rotating...
Good to see you joined. When I was fresh and green behind the ears to dsm’s(2006) and on dsmtalk. I remember you helping me out a few times. Probably don’t remember me as I never posted much, but spent a lot of time reading everyone else’s threads and post. My dsmtalk username was just my name...
So I transferred the good guts of one trans into the newer case..The only thing I didn’t touch/change on the newer bought case was the valve body.Put the w4a33 in the car. Filled with fluid and nothing. Put it in gear and the car does nothing. Doesn’t attempt to lurch or move.Lifted the...
HahahaI didn’t not know that! Wow, I’ve been around tuners for a while and never put that together. Nice to meet ya brad LOLShows you how little I pay attention.
Does it appear anyone has done previous wiring repairs anywhere in the alternator circuit? Also, I’ve never experienced it, but a lot of guys have had heating issues. The alternator gets to hot from the exhaust/o2housing. They either build a heat shield or relocate the alternator.-another...
I will most definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice, nice to find someone that’s experienced the pros and cons of braided loom. Overall it’s still fairly new/rare as most stick to plastic loom and yes, the plastic is a lot cheaper.
Don’t get meI’m still learning how to use the nylon braided loom. That’s really good to know how it traps debri! However, the “sand paper” rubbing affect could be said for plastic loom as well.I’m not against plastic loom, electrical tape, or even solder. I just think a lot of it is over...
The type of wiring used in 91’ compared to todays options is a no brainer. It’s the first thing that will be changed. It’s a outdated gtp type wire. As you can see doesn’t hold up more than a decade. From the constant heat and cooling effect in the engine bay and fluids coming into contact with...
Here’s a few pics of the trans. I’m sure it doesn’t offer much help other than. Yup it’s a transmission lol. Having the owner take some tc and flexplate pics later tonight.
That very well could be our problem. Unaware that there was a physical size difference. Is there a way to verify? Such as measuring the snout diameter and length on the tc? If so, then I’ll have to do some research on those measurements.
I do not believe he does have the original TC that came with the car. He has replaced the TC twice as each time the pump breaks. It’s clear the TC becomes highly contaminated with metal junks and debri.
So, engine was pulled out for mechanical issues.... while that’s out, I figured no better time than now to freshen up the 25+ year old weather beaten harness.I’ve done plenty of wiring tuck jobs and custom harnesses for other people. However, as usual, my car always gets left out due to time...
That is correct. After ensuring the tc is seated (3 distinct notches) I measured tc to flexplate clearance. The reading was 1/2”.From all my experience, that gap/clearance is to great. Which would cause the tc to disengage the pump when pulled flush and tightened to the flexplate. Which is...
