Ok so sorry for the late reply to this thread but I pulled the trigger and picked up the 92 eclipse 1.8. I was blown away with how great this car actually drove! The engine is strong (mechanically wise) and I was kind of shocked at the acceleration. Clutch and tranny are super smooth as well...

Yeah at the moment it was going to be daily driver and it might still be, but I’m also tempted to keep saving and go for my holy grail 1g gsx. And from what you guys have told me and what I read the 1.8 seems reliable and will allow me to save mileage on my every day vehicle.
