I have had a lot of work done at Pure Tuning to my car and the guys are very good. I think you have bitten off more then you can chew.I recommend that yo take it to them and let them help you get things in running order.
NO for a few reason.1. The 7 bolts use a thrust washer bearing and the 6 bolts do not.2. 6 bolt rods are thicker then 7 bolt rods so things are not going to line up their either!Get a Kiggly Racing main gridle. Main Girdle - Kiggly Racing Parts for DSM and EVOand some ARP main studs and...
I would just rebuild the one you have. It will save you money in the long run.Take it to a good local speed shop and have them do the work for you.Now would be the time to look at doing any upgrades that you might want to.You will need new valves, valve seals, head gasket, and timing belt...
I would take the rods to a speed shop and have them look at them. If they aren't helpful and you are still worried about them and you have the money to upgrade then it couldn't hurt to upgrade.
I would buy a Gasket that matches your bore size. OEM is fine or you can upgrade to a different brad.I'm gussing the motor is out of the car. So flip it over remove oil pan and unbolt the mains, rods, and give it a little tap with a mallet and it should come free.Post some pictures so...
I would put the drill bit that you are going to use over the hole and trace it with a fine tip sharpie. Then use the mark as a idea if you think it will hold. I would probably go ahead and do it. Because of the fact that your running a crazy Frankenstein contraption.Good luck;)
Street Tuned Motor Sports has them as well and you will not have to pay as much for shipping PLUS their is no handling FEE... what is with that???If you think a $100 is to much for the life and safety of your DSM well then...
If your on facespace and everyone is. Look for a group called Turbo Lab. They will have the rebuild parts you need to buy. Youtube has video out their on how to do the rebuild.
I would just save yourself the trouble and sell those things and buy a piston that has been designed to use in your motor and they will come with the proper rings. Why go threw all that trouble and risk?
I'm running a FP and They don't need to be ported. Plus they look way better.I had mine coated with TBC. Mine does not seen to get very hot with the coating.I think FP is the best manifold you can get before stepping up into a nice $1000 tubular manifold.
