Looks like a fun build! You definitely want to run a heat shield or do a ceramic coating on the exhaust manifold if you plan on doing track time. Also highly recommend boxing off all the air flow through the intercooler to force it to go through your radiator. Have you been on track yet?
You can have Koni yellows revalved for heavier springs, no problem, even convert them to Double Adjustable. Call Ground Control. If you still want more adjustment, Koni offers professional race application shocks. At that point though, the world is open to you (JRZ, Moton, Penske) because...
I had a track S2000, came with D2's (same stuff as Megan Racing). I also had a track WRX with BC's. Both suspensions were crap. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. The valving is not correct on these cheap brands for the spring rates. If you put them on a shock dyno, you will find the...
Does anyone still sell a bracket setup to convert a 2g to Evo Brembos? Looking to make the old DSM a track toy. My local track is Miller (soon to be UMC) by the way!
Congratulations! I used to live near VIR. My brother (fellow DSMer) and family still live in VA so maybe they can go watch. Actually, I think I'll be training in Richmond around 20 July so maybe I can go!Please keep us updated on the details of when the event is!
^ Why can't people wrap their head around this? I suppose people who just drag race will never understand the advantages of a lighter, more compact engine placed more centrally in the chassis for improved weight distribution...
I think an EvoIII would have great spool for autocross on a 2.3 stroker. My brother and I ran a Street Modified FWD GST with stock 2.0 on an EvoIII. Cams... maybe 264s or a 264/272 combo.
Don't mean to bump an old thread, but I would love to see a DSM meet in the Fargo/Grand Forks area. I just moved to GF from VA. Unfortunately my Talon is still back in VA for now, but I would love to make it to a DSM meet and share my knowledge and have a good time!
OP said in the first post he has 272s.
OP, you should be able to make about 350whp on pump gas with your set up, so long as you have enough fuel and a good tune. You'll need an upgraded fuel pump that is re-wired, an AFPR, and 650cc injectors or bigger.
I say get a clear cam gear cover. You say it sounds cammed. If it is then you'll want adjustable cam gears... which would look cool under a clear cover. Plus you can see the condition of your timing belt with a clear cover.
