The axles are good, the car only has 90k original miles and is completely original. It gets driven maybe 2k a year. I may just order the boots and replace all 4 while I'm on.I found someone who has the correct awd auto axles but I would need to transfer the abs cogs...anyone ever done it.thanks
Looking at repairing or replacing the two front cv shafts. Both have one ripped boot. Was thinking of just buying re-manufactured ones but finding 91 Auto AWD with Abs seems elusive. They don't grind so I might repair the boots instead. Any suggestions? thanks
I parked m 91 TSI AWD silver/black outside of the Oly REI last week. When I came out next to it was a 91-92 red GSX. I didn't have time to hand around and was just wondering if it is someone off this board?
Drove my 1g TSI AWD this weekend in the beautiful sun, was really great throwing it around on the dry roads...been too long. Owned this 1g for 20 years...still only 90k miles
91 1g talon TSI AWD 84k miles completely stock. The lifter tick on this is getting annoying and I think it might be causing the knock sensor to cause the ecu to change the timing (car sometimes bogs and at other times runs great). Anyway time to replace them, they are the originals. What lifters...
Electrical Problems and old cars are always fun. Having spent the winter chasing up electrical faults on my 88 Xr4ti. You have done the obvious and thats exactly where to start, check all easy to see connections, all fuses. Also clean and check all earths. Next you need to get a multimeter out...
Just put a 2.0 turbo 2 wheel TCU (MD750093) in my 2.0 Turbo AWD (MD750092) after replacing the capacitor. Take your time and its not that hard to do the soldering. Car shifts fine with this small TCU difference.:hellyeah:
Returned my 91 TSI AWD to the road after 12 years in storage. Replaced all fluids (brake, steering, oil, trans, diffs, transmission), new gas + seafoam and then swapped filters and plugs. Engine runs great. The fluids pick up so much moisture, my brake fluid was amazing.
