Man..I don't know why it took me this long to figure out that you had a build thread for this car. Better late than never. I started on page one, and your intro sounded a lot like my situation. I bought my '99 GSX when I was 16 too with a spun rod and traveled along many of the exact same steps...
Just making my routine visit to this thread. Currently looking at a 2008 X and it's a struggle to not want to pull the trigger on it. Something about that wicked white! Somebody talk me out of it.
Yeah. I have a hard time when it comes to thinking about selling it. I am not in a position where I HAVE to right. And the benefit to having it is that it's completely paid for, so I can work on it when able without any financial obligations. Which is nice. I think ultimately, I would like to...
I wish that I had good news to tell anyone that has been following this thread, but I don't. The GSX is still sitting. Being active duty stationed away from it makes it really hard to have work done on it. With each day that goes by I miss it more and more!
Ugh, the itch came back for wanting to purchase a new car. I had to come back to this thread and be reminded that I just need to keep the DSM and put the money into it!
Yeah, I could do that if I wanted to, but I have a perfect DD that's super easy to repair if something were to happen. If I want to go out and 'live life in the fast lane' I can always hop on my Hayabusa. Just trying to be smart with my money, but you can't take it with you when you go right?
That would be ideal to me, thought I also try looking at it this way. If I am going to be paying X amount a month for a car as well as insurance, I could be putting that money into the DSM without being contracted into a loan. I've gone back and forth about it so many times. I guess I'll just DD...
For some reason I have this incorrect logic of, "The newer of a car I have the less problems I'll have with it". I know this is far from true, but I'd like to imagine it is. Besides, a part of me has always wanted an Evo, as I've always liked the 4 door aspect. But when I step back and think...
Assuming that you did a correct boost leak test, I would lean next towards ignition. You have no fuel mods so I don't think the issue lies there. I would say to go back over your boost leak test. So many people get on here saying that they've done a thorough BLT and just kinda gave it a visual...
I noticed that you mentioned the car has a Greddy Type-S. Is the BOV vented to atmosphere or recirculated? If it's VTA that could be a contributing problem to it wanting to die like it is. I'm not saying it's your problem, but I have encounter this issue myself.
