I agree with you on the max temp barrier. It's not a precise sensor, doesn't measure actual coolant temps, and gives me notice of temp creep. I have my high set at 200 and haven't hit it yet. I'm not sure what my temps were while overheating b/c I didn't have this unit at the time.I'm sure...
My 23-year-old Spyder went through a rough patch where coolant hoses failed quite regularly. While looking for a warning unit that was inexpensive but would still fit somewhere useful, I found an overheating controller that gives early warning (audible alarm) when coolant temps reach a...
UPDATE: The cap didn't fix the issue. I took the GST our for a short run of 100+ MPH and the reservoir is empty. There is fluid all over the garage floor at retry. The overflow tube is dry, the radiator connections are dry, but I can't figure out where the massive leak is coming from. Any ideas...
Replace the cap and I now keep fluid in the reservoir. Thanks Luv2rallye for pegging this one right away!!!Thanks everyone else for mentioning other things to check!
I'm not a coolant expert and I'm posting here for some desperate help. My 97 GST is presumably loosing coolant through the overflow tube on the reservoir. I say that because I'm seeing coolant on the garage floor from the tube. The oil looks good so there isn't a problem there. I can top off the...
I too have the same problem at low RPMs too. New, tight (Gator) belts don't seem to make any difference. Once I get moving, squealing stops. It appears to be worse on cooler mornings. Needless to say, it's quit embarrassing.
Thanks for the link!! I absolutely stay away from the junk parts from the chain auto part stores. I'm not trying to act/be snooty. I used to work for one of them and the lifetime warranty sounds good in theory, but watching customers repeatedly taking a part off to exchange it gets rather...
Since I'm replacing stuff, I'm going to add the SS line. Any recommendations where to get one? It's been a while since I've bought good aftermarket parts for my DSM. Big thanks.
