    Diesel turbos for DSM

Hello everyone. I finally have gotten myself a daily driver (vivid red 05 Lincoln LS, its a beauty) and so now I want to turbo my Eclipse. I have a turbo engine in it , just short the turbo. Now growing up on a farm, I have acces to a couple of diesel turbochargers that seem like they would be...

    stock turbo swap questions

Well after a little contemplation, i decided to go with a rebuilt 4g63t 6bolt long block from Kar King. It arrived and looks very nice. i'm hooking it all up NT for now. Hopefully i will get my parts collected over the summer and turn this into a build thread this fall. I have a 351w Foxbody...

    stock turbo swap questions

Hello everyone. Its been awhile since i have been on here but spring has sprung and its time to get the dsm back on the road. So. before we get started i would like to let everyone know that i have read most all of the turbo swap threads. However, most of them are pretty generic, and i have a...

    Electricals Going Bad

Ok so i have a 1994 Eclipse GS N/T. When i got it everything worked like a charm. Then i spun a rod bearing and it sat for a year and a half with no motor. Now i finally have a motor in it and the electrical seems to be going to crap. The factory stereo wires quit working out of nowhere, the...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

haha it could be worse... i mostly meant that when i researched the motor a bit i found out that it has a decently strong bottom end. And that it will have no trouble handling the extra rpms that the 272s and 4g63 injectors will give it. Seeing as how the 61 is an oversquare motor it should...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

The cam caps are prperly torqued to 14. I ordered a gates t165 for a 1.6 DOHC Mirage. Hopefully this solves it. I could have swore two less teeth would be a perfect fit, turns out i guessed right. I have heard of a few accidental 4g67s instead of a 4g63 but not a 4g61/67 hybrid.I kinda...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

My tensioner arms are both definately 1g arms. I think it actually might be a damn Mirage engine. I could not find a VIN on my block but the engine code says 4G61 (mirage engine) and then HN3167. The 7 bolt said 4g63 there. My old head from the 7 bolt had 2.0 cast with 11 below it. my head has...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

The belt says tx167 i specifically asked for a timing belt for a 1992 because i know that to be the year of my 6 bolt. The other belt i have which i thought was stretched but now i think it actually isn't is a contitech belt not sure of the number but i know it worked fine on the 7bolt. Both...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

So 6 and 7 bolt use different tensioner arms? I have tried both arms and to look at them they look identical. Other than the one off of the 6 bolt has the hole for the elliptical tensioner actually drilled what looks like a bit lower than the center of the circle which seems odd to me because i...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

The tensioners on the two motors are identical in design, but use different mounting points. So i haven't switched those because it can't be done. The pivoting point is the same though and i have tried interchanging them.

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

Can you please explain in a bit more detail how i would go about this? I get the clip method, but not what you mean by the spring that the cam gears have to them, and what you mean by pulling them in.

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

I wish that would fix it but i think there is something seriously wrong. I can install the hydraulic tensioner fully extended and still turn the elliptical 360 degrees. I've tried using all the timing bits from the other motor to no avail. I'm about to wonder if the hole to mount the tensioner...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

Ya i finally got some pics here. Using the other tensioning arm did nothing. As you can see in the picture, the elliptical is set to where the belt should be fully tight. But i can still push the tension arm up to where it touches the block. Oh one other thing i thought of. Should the pully that...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

Yes i have it fully installed and everything. I just went and had a professional mechanic give me some advice on it also and he said it sounded like the tensioning arm could be bent because like you say, the elliptical should take all the slack out basically on its own before removing the pin...

    Resolved 1G cam swap/ re-time

Well the thing is when i have the timing marks lined up on the cam gears, and put the belt on, the teeth on the belt and the teeth on the gears don't line up perfectly without the belt being slack inbetween the two gears. and if i turn one gear a hair so that the belt has no slack in between the...
